Well ... got the bass and drums done yesterday morning. A friend on another forum sent me his Earthquaker Devices Monarch last night so I definitely wanted to track with it.

This is the first time in like 6 years that I have actually hooked up a mic and recorded an amp. Here's what all I used:

• Splawn Quickrod on Gear 1
• Splawn 2x12 cab w/Celestion Creamback 65's
• Sennheiser e609 mic
• Gibson "Custom V" w/Duncan Custom
• Black Arts Coven (left guitars = Black Forest, right guitars = Pharaoh)
• Earthquaker Devices Monarch (center guitars/leads)
• Ibanez BTB Bass
• Studio Devil Bass Pro plug-in
• Steven Slate Drums Platinum (Vintage American Rock kit)
• Logic Pro X

I may redo the vocals. Not my best performance but I ain't mad at 'em! All guitars are one track all the way through. Leads are "off the cuff". (I'm a one man show for a few recording projects)

I am REALLY pleased at how the Coven and Monarch track. The Monarch would be a little redundant on my board as I think it has very similar flavors of what I am dialing in on the Coven but it was cool to try out. EQD is on my radar for sure. This is certainly not your average Splawn tone. That first hit where everything comes in just makes me smile. Worth mentioning, this is also the first time using my fingers playing bass ...

Also, I am very pleased that the amp is not set super loud and I can A) generated good feedback and B) get a pretty damn thick sound. Glad I didn't invest in a very expensive modeler.

Anywho ... Here's the track. Its called "Squirrel = Nut"

Lyrics:
I get up in the morning and I go
Some eggs and bacon and a cup of "joe"
Get in the car, an hour drive ahead
To try and win a race where rats are led

When I get there I'm 20 minutes late
Always the last out of the starting gate
I hope my boss don't see me comin' in
I don't know why I try, I'll never win

And I don't know I even try

When I get home thinking things are fine
My house is dark, someone's drawn the blinds
The signed were there, I guess I should have read
Who's shoes are those underneath the bed

And I don't know why, I even try
Can't escape, I know I'll never win

Don't judge too harshly ...

That kicks ass man! :rawk:
Well thank you, Sir!

I always get nervous posting my stuff, especially if there are vocals. I know there are many "web recording guru's" that love to tear us avid hobbyists up. LOL!

Sounds cool man kinda like a COC riff. Don't be shy only way to get better is to have peers critique you. And who gives a rats ass what we say? HAHA

I hear you. I agree. Feedback is the only way to get better. Thanks for checking it out!

I'm seriously digging hitting the Splawn with a fuzz.

Sounds great! I've been sniffing around the louder creambacks for my Splawn.

What were your gear 1 settings and mic placement?

I love the look of your amp and cabs.

Thanks. Took me forever (and at least 20 photoshop mock ups) to decide on the cosmetics.

I love the Creambacks in my cabs. For 2x12's they sound huge. Beat out my Fryette Deliverance 2x12 which I thought was the bees knees.

Settings were:
Presence: 9:00
Bass: 9:00
Middle:
1:00
Treble: 1:00
Gain: 10:00
Gear: 1

The Coven, which is 2 Black Arts Toneworks pedals in one enclosure provided the fuzzy/hairy goodness. One side of the pedal is their Pharaoh Fuzz and the other is the Black Forest Overdrive. I did one track panned hard left/right of each. Then used the Earthquaker Devices Monarch in the center for one track and leads.

The mic placement you can see in the pic of the amps in the original post.

Glad you dug it and thanks for checking it out.
