I thought I liked this album a bit when it came out. But I just finished listening to it start to finish and opinions are like assholes, but man listening now I hate it for the most part. Guitar tone is horrific, drums are annoying as hell, productions sucks. Some good ideas but poor execution IMHO. So much of it just sounds like chaotic noise with little musicality.

Mostly agree. Production was lazy and god awful. Songs are waaaay repetitive and the lyrics mostly suck. There are some solid ideas but too far and inbetween. Unnamed feeling is different and cool. Also, it’s interesting how Frantic actually begins with the snare engaged….then it’s off by the end of the track.

I'm not much for their stuff beyond AJFA but Death Magnetic I like for their modern stuff. I haven't listened much to Hardwired of 72 Seasons.

I remember in interviews where they said they literally just jammed ideas together in the studio then did editing. It’s why the songs are too long with nothing to say. So lazy writing, shitty experimental recording and voilà. Also they did a video of every song live in the studio, where the drums were much better. I tried making a rip of the audio work, to get into the album but it still just sucked.

Listened to the Frantic clip this morning, and thought: I should make that my alarm and set it across the room. I'd bounce out of bed so fast to shut it off.
