So when I got my BE100 - the "Scot" in me had a hard time paying $1200 for a new cab that didn't have wheels...  I figured another - quality cab would be just fine. Especially in the context of a live band mix. So I picked up an EVH 4x12 cab with Greenbacks in it - Nice cab, Baltic birch, wheels. Took it to band practice and it worked great... Even my lead player said "Man that sounds great"... So all good. :) But even with wheels a 4 x12 is a pain to take to practice so I figure I'll keep my eyes open and if a good 2x12 pops up, I'll snag it and have one cab at home and one at the practice space and only haul the head back and forth.

We'll a FRIEDMAN 2x12 pops up and I'm thinking ya but still too much... So I wait a week and make an offer. We make a deal and I run down to LA to scoop it up. Unlike a lot of CL deals this is exactly as described. Done deal. :)

So I get it home, plug in and crank up to play along to my practice list with the PA providing backing tracks... :)

So sound is always hard to describe so I'll give you an analogy - Ever drive with a dirty windshield so long you're used to it? Then clean it really good and you're amazed at how clear it is? The details that pop out? I'd been fighting eq with different guitars trying not to be "muddy". The V30's and the Friedman cab FIXED THAT completely...

It's such a difference that I don't like the other cab now... It will either get V30's in the bottom or it will go and I'll just bite the bullet and get a Friedman 4x12. It's a night and day difference.

Hope this helps anybody on the fence with their cab hunt. :)

i'm in the same boat. got a BE100 a few weeks ago, and have been auditioning various cabs. Hesitant to dump almost 2K Canadian on a Friedman cabinet (it'll be that much by the time it's shipped), especially without trying one first, but I think it will be a wise move in the end.

Everyone seems to think that the BE really wakes up when you plug into the Friedman 4x12. Not too well versed in the construction methods (how many different ways can you build a cabinet? rhetorical, i'm sure there are many differences), but I hope i'm not disappointed when it shows up!

Totally agree, I played my be with my carvin legacy cab for a few weeks then got the Friedman 2x12 and it was just better. The Friedman 2x12 just kills.

Cabs matter...........but only to the guitar player on stage who's playing through it. The audience in FOH can't here the difference with close miking.

Sweetwater has free shipping...I would've saved a lot of $$$ on shipping ( 2-2x12's, 2-4x12's)but they didn't carry Friedman when I bought my cabs...I told them to start carrying Friedman numerous times...and now they do

I use my Friedman 4x12 for everything. Sounds amazing with any style guitar or amp. Every amp I've played sounds better through it. I AB'd many cabs against it in Nashville and for my Bogner and Friedman, it's just the best for me. Tight thumps, creamy even mids that project well, and highs that are just bright enough to cut through perfect for solos.

Im BEless right now but I'll be back rocking with the band in the next couple weeks I hope. Friedman has the best CS hands down fellas. Playing the BE alone is fun, but you really understand why Dave has suck a great amp when you jam them live. Was unbelievable the first show I played with the BE and 4x12. Really want a 2x12 in a bad way.

I wish they offered free shipping to Canada! Factor in the crappy exchange rate, and duty on top of it, it would probably cost me more in the end to purchase off a dealer in the US. Found a vintage 4x12 at a dealer in Canada. Closest thing I can come to locally would be a 1960BHW, and in the end there would only be a few bucks in difference.

I figure the Friedman cab will be worth it

it's on the way. what is money anyway? haha looking forward to it, I think I will be happy

I probably will get a Friedman 412 for my BE100 at some point. I'm running 2 Marshall JCM800 cabs loaded with original G12-65's and I love the sound i get out of those cabs. I also have an issue with V30's (i just don't like them with Marshall style amps at all), so the Friedman stock cabs have me a little scared. I'll have to try one out before i make a decision.

I have never been a fan of vintage 30's either. I really want to try out a Friedman cab though!

I originally used a Marshall 1960A with my BE100. It had greenbacks. After getting the Friedman cab, I haven't looked back. The mix of the V30s and greenbacks works perfectly.

I've got a 4x12 on the way, may be too much, but I want to try the V30/GB with my small box. Neighbors will love me...

My 4x12 showed up. It's pretty awesome. Something about that mix of speakers. My wallet may forgive me someday...

I have a Fiedman Smallbox too, plus a Friedman 2x12" with V30's. I have to be honest here: the V30's sound terrible. Brittle, plastic, no sustain... My 2x12" with old G12 65's sounds way better, smoother and overall more convincing.
I'm contemplating to sell my Friedman cab or put Greenbacks in it....

Are the speakers broken it yet? If they haven't been broken in yet they sound less than pleasing. Those Friedman cabs are stellar build quality. May be worth just swapping the speakers if the V30 doesn't work out for you. But give it some time to break in. V30's are pretty harsh at first.

If they were 16 ohm I'd trade you for a couple of the EVH Greenbacks in my EVH 4x12!

I love my Friedman 2x12 and I want to get the mix going in my 4x12! :D

That might be the case. I can hardly ever use the speakers on a decent volume: my bands almost always play through a PA w. monitors (so with a mic in front of my cab, you know the deal) and during rehearsals I play over whatever there is in the rehearsal room... Then again, there's not much motivation to drag around and use a cab (with just one awkward handle) which sounds less than stellar during rehearsals...

I think that for almost 900 euro's I expected to get something that sounded better straight away than this 2x12"V30 cab. But perhaps it's just me... I mean, an entire Friedman forum can't be wrong, can they? ;)
