Steel Dragon appreciation (Zakk Wylde content)

I know this movie is cheesy to some folks but I freaking love it and I love this soundtrack. Freakin banger
Same here; I only thought that the style of Steel Dragon's music didn't really fit the era (mid 80's) that the movie was trying to convey.
I mean, "Stand up and shout" sounds cool and all, but is way more of a 90's type of song.
And as both an avid Boss pedal collector *and* a sucker for details, I noticed the CH-1 Chorus on Zakk's board, which wasn't released until '89.

But hey, which movie director will go "Look Mr. Wielandt, I don't doubt your bad-assery, but could you please replace that little lavender colored pedal on your board with a turquoise CE-2 Chorus, so that my movie won't suffer from anachronistic errors? Mkkay?" ? :p

Love the movie, mostly for the music. I get why Judas Priest was pissed off about it.

This movie came out right when I was in my full on Zakk Wylde phase and I fucking LOVE IT, as cheesy as it is. Any movie that makes jokes about pinch harmonics is good in my book, never mind the soundtrack.

Steelheart dude just made a post last week that popped up in my feed, he doesn’t feel he got proper credit for his work on the soundtrack which I found odd. I only know that one Steelheart tune but I’m quite sure everyone knew who was singing those songs on the soundtrack, I certainly did.

I taught myself how to sing with a supported head voice singing to “We All Die Young” on a walking path on my way home from work back in the day, scaring the shit out of people riding bikes and likely sounding like a wounded bird.

The original version was on a Steelheart album and while singer dude might not be thrilled with it’s trajectory, that song would have been entirely unknown had it not made it onto Rockstar, edited, with Zakk Wylde kicking it up a notch.

OG-

Perfect example of a band not knowing how to edit themselves and cut out the fat.
