Cmon, nobody remembers? I'm pretty sure he never had it delivered to Saudi. I think he just sold it from his parents house in Tennessee. I think? Anyway, it sure would be cool to own if it was Steve's. RIP SK

I dont know if this was his.........

R.I.P. Steve

Yea, that's Steve's old one. Though you should also know, that's one of the lame-o Japanese reseller guys. This is the guy's ad who is actually selling the guitar (If you buy from ebay, that guy will just buy the yahoo auction and profit the rest):

I hate those resellers! They’re all over EBay with their ridiculously inflated prices. How did you find this ad? Thanks for posting.

Well I live in Japan and used prices here are really low, so I scour a couple saved searches daily for local markets -- yahoo's probably the best one. I saw that guitar pop up a few months and have been watching the seller reduce further and further (he's down more than a thousand since starting). But in Japan (a) it's used, (b) it's not Fender/Gibson/PRS, and (c) it's dinged, so very hard to move. But I have to say the quilt top looks even better in this guy's photos than Steve's when he had it, or the subsequent photos when it was sold again on Reverb.

If you want to buy it I can help out. I have to charge a bit for my time of physically moving the guitar around, but could probably do it for a good bit less than the reseller guy.

I really appreciate the offer, but I’m not looking to buy. I just posted this as a cool reminder/example of Steve K’s legendary taste and revolving door of amazing gear. Although, $2100 USD is a great price for this piece. McNaught’s are about as good as they get.

No worries man - I like how he spec'd this one out with no binding. Almost no one does that, but McNaught's binding thickness on teh neck and the scrape binding on the body is always a different thickness, and that always bothered me. Wonder if it annoyed him too. If not for the inlays, I would have been all over it.

Well anyway the guitar sold (seems like whenever I post an ad to a yahoo auction it disappears immediately). Funny though - the ebay listing from the reseller is still live. That makes me feel good - at least whoever bought it isn't supporting the jacked up reselling prices. That's the least Steve K thing somebody can do.

Yes, it looks more aggressive sans binding. And with the EMG’s and the nuclear Incredible Hulk green, he may have been going for a more aggressive, more metal McNaught. I’m not a big fan of those offset inlays either. Would have been killer without any inlays! I would have bought it for $2100 from your link, but I am so gear heavy at the moment. It’s great to hear that it wasn’t bought from that reseller. Like you said, inflating prices like that is totally un-Steve K. Thanks again for posting that.
