Whenever i can I blast the Blue channel and it immediately puts a grin on my face. So rock in roll! Then if i want to let my fingers fly the Red channel makes the guitar play so effortlessly. Every channel sounds so great. Cannot rave about this amp enough. For those that have not tried the Ecstacy yet just let me give you this advice... Get the volumes up as loud as you can. Although the Ecstasy is one of the better amps for low volume playing, it doesn't truely give up the goods until the volumes are around 11:00 or so. Love this amp!!!!

It's stood the test of time and still commands a lot of money on the used market.

Tons of killer amps out there but for myvsituation and stuff i typically play the 101b is a great amp. Down the road i'm sure i'll add more amps to my collection but doubt i'll part with this one. I still have the Marshall Vintage Modern and FJA 5150II. The Bogner is the favorite though. With some volume it impresses me so much. Such an enjoyable amp to play through!

Man, if you weren't gassing for an Xtc before, you will be after that vid, lol.

Steve's vid makes me gas too.

Yep he makes it sing. Lots of tones in this amp.

Would love to play through one. There is a store in Pittsburgh with a used but mint 6L6 version. I should get out there and try it out

There are only a couple amps I regret moving on to greener pastures. The 20th was one of them.

I have a 20th and a 101b, love em both but the 20th still makes me smile every time. And this is with a Diezel VH4, Carol Ann OD3, and Friedman BE100 in the stable too! So super versatile, so many options with the boosts on each channel, just growls with some volume at all and every gain level (6 of them, count em) from clean to super saturated on red + boost.

I cannot wait for the day that I can add the XTC to my stable. I say stable but I'm only rocking one amp

Dude, you're not going to fall out of love with it so quit trying ;)

I've had mine since 2004

Oh I don't think there is much of a chance for that ;)

How would you guys say this compares to the Rev.2 or even the Twin Jet in the High Gain category?

I have never had a chance to play the Ecstacy.

I agree. I had rehearsal last night with no drummer and I had the vol lower than I normally would. While it sounds great at home, playing low volume its not that great in a band context.

I will say that the blue lead tone is as good as it gets for me. I have tried at least 100 amps the last 12-14 years. That lead tone is it for me. Its always willing to sing for you. Just think about feedback and its right there for you. Just blissful at times.

At the same time, sometimes I feel like the 101b lacks openess but its mostly because that amp is designed for a big stage and needs to breath. Crack that volume and its all there. I have been contemplating this C40 mod as of late though. I am always trying to make a good thing better. Just my nature. I wouldn't want to sacrifice the feel and compression of the amp though. I don't know if I can have both. I have owned the Classic. There is something about the feel of the 101b that I prefer. Its sweeter to me. Does that make any sense?
