Mark is a great player,but one strange dude!!he has his specs posted in the metroamp forum,yet gets pissed when people talk about them in the forum!!my last straw with the guy was when he had a negative post about people mad at him on the metroamp forum,he hadn't replied so I posted a link on his Facebook page so he would see and respond!thought I was doing him a favor ,didn't want to see him loose customers!he flipped out about it wanting mevto delete it that I was hurting his bussiness ,and left me all these weird voicemails!!

I am picking up a Metro 12xxx, and having it modded w/ Rocktah's Mod5 tweaks, done by Jerry Dyer.

The amp is a Metro 12xxx series head. It has a white headbox with a Mercury Magnetics OT and vintage Sozo Caps, JJ pre-amps & Mullard re-issue power tubes. It also has a PPIMV, already installed.

The other amp I was considering, just didn't feel right-- after seeing the meh condition and the price the seller was asking, seemed too high. I am excited to get this thing cranking.

Why don't you get it and play some Halen through it before you turn it into a 2203 (preamp) with lowered filtering? I have basically the same amp built by George with the PPIMV and I am getting GREAT Van Halen tones with it stock. Personally, I recommend you play it first before spending any more cash and I bet Jerry would agree with me...

I never called it the mod 5. I cascaded the preamps and made some minor changes. this mod has been around since mark and I were in diapers.

Seriously, why get it hacked up to a 2203 until you hear and feel the raw power of the 12000. So Jerry does Rockstahs mods now? Rockstah yelled at Steve about copying his VH mod on the internet about this I do recall. I would feel a bit better sending it out to Jerry though, if he indeed does the same mod, Rockstah was recently pulling Cameronisms with men.

Yup and for the record, he was bummed at me me for saying I would tell people who were begging for their amps and money back when he was unresponsive how to do the mod. Which he really shouldn't care about since there still exists a thread on metro that spells it out EXACTLY. Someone also posted gut shots of one here when trying to sell it. I never saw a thread on metro with schems and layouts. Finally, I never copied that mod in an amp for myself or performed it for others. I have shared exactly what the mod is though... I see no harm in that since it is public record to this day on metro...

That's basically what I'm saying Mark (Rockstah)posted all the information on the Metro site, so If someone was smart enough to pay attention then No harm no foul . If he is going to get pissy about it, then he really does not have a leg to stand on as he is to blame for leaking the info. You can't share stuff freely and then get pissed off at people for using the information just because one day you decide to charge money for it IMHO.

Just a FYI, He most definitely posted a picture of the MOD 5 either directly or indirectly. He used to have links to all of his tweaks posted in his signature on Metroamp. If you ever clicked on any of the numerous pictures that he posted links to, it was there plain as day.Or you could go to his sig and click on Rocktah tweaks and mods and bam.... There they were.
Id gather he has since taken them down.

With all this said, I still think that he will make money with the mod because not all of us are handy. If I wanted that sound, Id send Mark my amp in a heartbeat, but there are so many other amps out now that I feel cover that tone, that there is no need for me to and I'm kind of done with that sound......... (only at this point in time... That could change in the future LMAO )

Funny, he was busting your balls for this. I saw a thread on TGP where he was begging for a gut shots of a Cameron. When the person refused, he was saying how people helped each other out on the Metro forum, that it's no secret, and on and on. The when it come to his mod (or whatever), it's a big secret and wouldn't give up the goods.

Funny thing is, I did a couple of gigs a few years ago at the Honolulu Yacht Club, outdoors and used a Roland Cube 60 w/ a couple of pedals and my Suhr Standard, and did have guys coming up and complimenting the tone and playing, and when they saw what I was using-- after asking what I was using, their next question was how the hell am I getting that tone out of that rig. I just thought to myself that they'd likely have a stroke, if they heard MY version of Good tone. Ah well.....

Not sure about his business practices or any strange history he may have or had, but I can tell you this---- I will NEVER EVER EVER, mention his name or mods to ANYONE. Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. Don't get me wrong, I don't wish anything bad on anyone-- but IF anyone should be upset, they should look in the mirror and realize that they undermined their own potential success by posting all of this "Secret" stuff, and if there is any truth to what you eluded to re: his business practices-- well... there you have it.

Let me see if I can summarize for you. I don't know Rocko either, or this other chucklhead that's telling me GTFO.

I bought an amp, and decided to have Jerry Dyer (A COOL friend), do some tweaks for me. He did, and gave me the Aloha discount.

Fast forward a bit-- Rocky gets his thong in a knot over the whole matter, and apparently reserves the right to go off half cocked, about the whole thing.

1st he says that it's his mod (He even asks me if he worked on my amp), then says that it isn't-- Then after saying that it isn't, he seems to want to reserve the right to be bent out of shape, as though it were. If it isn't then he should STFU. If it is, he's an idiot for publicly posting EVERY fine detail of it ALL over the web, if he intended to keep it a secret.

From here on out I'm NEVER referring to his mod again, and will forever refer to this mod as the ZSP11 mod, done by Jerry Dyer, of Surreal Amplification.

I honestly didn't -- and still don't-- see any issue to posting pics of MY amp, since the EXACT information on these mods is there for ALL to see, and has been for quite a while before I posted this, as you well know-- And... in this case, the guy who's complaining-- IS the guy who put the info out there for ALL to see.

I have a Cameron HG Jose SLP (UN-gooped), which Mark asked my buddy to please not post pics, and neither I nor my friend will, but regarding THIS amp and the mods done to it-- Those mods have been FULLY documented with pics on the web, long before now.

No harm done. No bad intentions, nor bad wishes intended for anyone involved, at any point along the way.

Got the amp... YAY!!!!

It's now home with the rest of the family and doing well. Gotta replace a microphonic tube (or more) today. We'll see. I'm guessing being bounced around by shipping resulted, but no biggie.

Amp sounded great straight head/cab, then when I got home and integrated it into the rig... Ooohhhhh

This whole mod bus is a big joke. People think just because they made some minor tweaks to something that now theyre some amp god. Cascading the front of a marshall is as old as the hills. So is the post phase invertor master volume.

Cant wait to hear that thing in your set up. It had a very very good thump factor even when using all the gain. The push pull is just icing on the cake.
