I got a new pile of pedals from Griffin Analog. I know. You're shocked.
Half of them went straight on to my bass board. I love the new Beez Nutz pedal in the hammered finish because it reminds me of my very own source material. I took the rest to practice last night.
I showed up early to mess around and decided to put them on my bassist's pedalboard. I texted the band group chat: [I came to practice early so I can rearrange Dönny's pedalboard.]
Dönny responded with this:
He's usually the last to show up. Yesterday was no exception.
We're all hanging out upstairs when Dönny shows up (last again). We were joking about him being on time for a change when we went straight downstairs into the jam room. I was pacing him in my mind and called out, "He'll see his pedalboard in 3... 2... 1..."
No more than two seconds pass and he yells out, "Aw, what the fuck!"
He comes up to find us in stitches; Tears shed at his expense. We finally went downstairs to jam, and he got things roughly dialed in. That Don Juan Cornelius Phaser sounds great on bass! @griff10672 accidently made another amazing bass pedal! He had it set a little subtle on the first verse, but went and tweaked the resonance and depth knobs to make it pop out a little bit more for the second verse. What makes is so great on bass is that the low fundamental doesn't get lost in the phase sweep. It's clearly the one.
After practice, we had a brief debriefing session and went through them again without the band. I took the Fuzz back and put his EQD Hoof fuzz back on his board. The Hoof lets more low end through, even though he liked the Fuzz of the Norse Bear pedal better. Hearing them back to back helped us hear the difference. That one is more of a guitar pedal. He refused to put the Phase 90 back on his board. He kindly requested more time with the Don Juan Cornelius. I said "No" but he took it anyways. I got a brand new pedal I love and I only had it for one day before it was gone. I guess it serves me right!
