Interested to see what people's preference are for strat style guitars fretboard. Also interested if the answer would change for a tele.

I have a maple and a rosewood. Like them both, but have a slight preference towards the maple...

pau ferro

Looks like rosewood, hard as maple, similar snap but more even tone everywhere without having to worry about the occasional dead spots you can get with maple.

For me, if it's a traditional style strat, it has to be maple. If it's some superstrat, anything'll be fine, but I like maple the best. It's mostly a looks thing, to be honest.

That's where I'm stuck... for traditional I want maple. For a superstrat I like ebony or rosewood.

Hard to answer this poll.

Maple.

For me it's aesthetics.

I've never been able to "hear" a difference in fretboard woods like everybody else seems to.

Never really been able to hear much or any difference in body woods either. Ash/Alder. Who cares? Either a guitar is resonant and sounds good or it doesn't. I've played so many good and bad sounding Stratocasters, Telecasters, SG's and Les Pauls over the years that for me it's really a guitar by guitar basis.

Sweeping generalizations like "mahogany or basswood is such a better tonewood than ash" Are ridiculous. I've heard em all over the years.

Well it really depends on the body wood. I prefer one piece solid maple necks most of the time so that gets my vote in this poll. I also love ebony.

Quality of rosewood has gone down. I do prefer brazilian over any other types of rosewood unfortunately brazilian supply is continuing to shrink.

Gotta be Rosewood for me. A nice lacquer maple neck is a work of art, but I have difficulty with the friction on the fretboard. With that said, a satin maple fretboard feels good to me too since my first Strat had one.
