Strymon Kinda Sucks

Service kinda sucks. Great pedals, but power supplies have been buggy. I'm moving on to another brand.

I've had nothing but great experiences with them. Was in contact with their support via email and they were awesome and quick to respond. Have a Zuma powering my pedals which include a Flint and Capistan all of which I've had no issues with. Sorry you've had a bad time with them.

It's been a few days with 1 email per day. No emails today in response to my email yesterday afternoon. It's almost 3:00 PM. I'm not surprised. Every time a good company becomes a big hit they start to decline.

My only issue with Strymon is you go out and buy a Mobius and a Timeline and you already spent over $800 on just 2 pedals. And you still don't have wah, EQ, pitch, whammy, etc. May as well get a Fractal FX8 or AX8, the Fractal effects sound as good as any other digital box.

But Line 6 delays, verbs, and much of their modulation sounds pretty good. One thing about Styrmon is their demo's. They make them sound just perfect, all done in stereo and whatnot. Their pedals DO sound great but a full pedal board full of Strymon pedals can set you back close to 2k.

I used a strymon isolated supply for my Walrus audio Bellwether and it was noisy as all hell. Never used their actual effects pedal but I can attest to the power supplies being a bit "off".

Seems like everyone has something...I've been sitting on a intermittent working Suhr Reactive Load for a month trying to get it replaced with no luck. Was promised once that a replacement was on the way to me, but nada.

Well, I originally aimed at getting an El Capistan because I really liked that sound. However, I opted for the Timeline because I also wanted to do the dual delay thing. However, I pretty much use only one preset on the whole unit 99% of the time and that's the El Capistan Tape Delay setting. As for my Mobius, well, I got it because I wanted to consolidate my FX since I only use 1 modulation at a time anyway, but as I've been using it for a while, I haven't been too satisfied with the subtle sounds of their effects.

It's not $800, by the way, more like $900 ($450 ea). The first few weeks, it seemed like their stuff was the best without question, but the nuances have surfaced and I'm not 100% sold anymore. Then I was having a bit of noise issues, so I got their Ojai. However, the first one I got suddenly started freaking out and making my effects power on and off rapidly. I unplugged everything and plugged them back in one at a time, but the problem persisted all night. The next day after work, I plugged in and it took about 2 hours before it flipped out again.

I took the Ojai back to the dealer and swapped for another. It's not defective like the first one, but the fact that I can't use my tube screamer really sucks. Then the guy emails me about my patch cables. I'm like "Dude, why would my patch cables suddenly be an issue when I already told you that I can run any other overdrive without the same problem?" His response was inadequate and had nothing to offer me, so I gave up.

Well, it turns out that I come home the next day with my TS-808 still plugged in, and all the sudden it's working properly. Then I go to swap out my wah for another wah (no daisy-chaining by the way), and when I plug in a Jerry Cantrell wah in place of my Dimebag Wah, all the sudden my TS-808 is noisy again. Then I unplug everything and plug them back in one by one, and boom, everything was quiet again.

I've given up on the Ojai, and am of the mindset to sell my Mobius and Timeline and just get an El Capistan and some analog FX. Strymon was just way too uncaring and slow, so I sent them an email last night saying that I've given up on their product and will sell it. They still haven't responded after 24 hours so I'm done with those dudes. They have some great effects, but there is more to expensive products than just the tone, so I'm going back to what I can rely on. Maxon has always been very good to me.

I love the El Cap. No issues. The only thing that would beat it is Belle Epoch plus Talisman or Topanga.

definitely a bummer to go thru that after paying big money.I was holding out and hoping for a strymon harmonizer,but I must say my pitchfactor is awesome.Have you considered the other eventide pedals? Lots of pros use em..hope it works out for you.

This. I sold my Eventide H9's because the only thing (besides basic delay and reverb) that I ever used was the micro-pitch. So I thought it was a waste to have all that and only use a small part. But I have been looking for another pedal with a micro pitch that is NOT at least $350 to over $400 without luck. So I miss my H9. I love what the micro pitch gives solo playing. I should have researched more before selling, but it would be cool if Strymon or similar had a comparable micro pitch and/or harmonizer. Or maybe I just haven't discovered anything yet.

Yep, I had an Eventide Modfactor. I thought it was equally as good as the Mobius, but the Mobius is much easier to dial in. However, in retrospect, I was able to get a lot of great subtle tones with the Modfactor that I can't seem to get with the Mobius. The Strymon stuff seems like like a stronger FX signal. All I really use my FX pedals for is to add a very light chorus and delay to my cleans and a bit of delay and modulation to my driven sounds. I have read reviews about Eventide stuff not being as good as Strymon, but I disagree. As for the build quality, it seems good to, but I have no idea if it's as good as Strymon. Haven't tried the H9, but I may get one because I hear you can do pitch-shifting and harmonizing with it.

Strymon is cool and is organic sounding. They seem to price gouge however for what you get.

With digital effects these days it seems as long as the quality parts are used they all sound good, albeit "sterile". Now the companies are writing proprietary algorithims to give digital fx character.

I went through the axe fx 2, then strymon, then eventide and finally as of now neunaber. I like neunabers sound quality the most. Pi/Golden ratio sounds have always been more pleasing to my ears.

Each brand has a "tone" that is their own. Depends on your tastes and setup needs really. ALL of them sound adequate.

There are a lot of great products out there. Everybody should be able to find something that works for them at any price point.
