Hi guys I need to add in my pedalboard a pedal "amp like" with a marshall type sound like the friedman be od (now on my board like my main distortion in the clean amp platform) but with more mids and more vintage sound (not tight like the be od). I've thinking to:
  1. XTS Atomic overdrive
  2. Tech 21 Hot rod plexi
  3. Bogner Blue (older version)
What other models do you suggest?

Wampler Pinnacle Deluxe. I own one and a BE Deluxe OD and the Pinnacle has noticeably less gain and compression. Much more natural, open, cranked Plexi vibe.

Bogner Blue is good (great, just less gainy than I find ideal), and I also use a Bogner La Grange, which is the pedal that officially got me to stay with pedals and not go back to amp gain.

My $28 caline Englishman sounds great regardless of price, it’s silly not to have one for the money

For me it’s the Dirty Shirley all the way for this. If you turn the mids all the way down you can get very close to the be sound but it’s softer and has a bit more sag giving it that vintage vibe. The ds is a great, versatile pedal.

I like the Bogner Blue and the Plexitone a lot. The Dirty Shirley is also great.

The new Wampler Andy Wood Gearbox looks cool. You could set the Pinnacle side for low gain, and then goose it with the Tumnus side for a BE-OD flavor when you want it.

Yep Smallbox or Bogner Blue. Never ever have I had any luck with the XTS Atomic. Also the Bogner LaGrange is pretty versatile..

Curious as to what you got ? And did you get the desired results?

I have bought the Bogner Blue pedal (first version) And I'm very happy, It has a very amp like sound and much dynamic, now I sholud try it in a rehearsal with my band tomorrow and after that I will give the final judgement. In comparison with the BE OD the blue has less gain and compression.

Carl Martin Plexitone. The smaller foot print version. Great Marshall in a box pedal.
