I'm looking for a tremelo pedal that will do a fast, choppy, helicopter-type tremelo. The Boss PN2 is perfect, but they are hard to find. What other pedals will do that fast choppy on/off style of tremelo?

Depending on your budget as well as board real estate:
Lightfoot Labs Goatkeeper
Dr. Scientist Tremolescence

I've been interested in the empress tap trem. Their stuff is always of good quality but I haven't tried one. Worth looking into though.

Cusack - Tap-a-whirl
Tap tempo, 24 diff. wave forms, programable
it a really cool trem pedal

Seymour Duncan Shape Shifter

Pros: Very tweakable (you can get any trem sound), transparent, tap tempo, cheap used (why spend hundreds on a pedal you rarely use)
Cons: Large footprint

No offense, but if you are familiar with the Goatkeeper, Empress or Cusack Tap A Whirl, this unit will not do every tremelo sound out there. I'm sure it does some cool sounds, but it appears to be discontinued anyways.

I would recommend checking out the Fulltone Supa-Trem too, but if you are going to spend that much, you might as well spend a little more and get the Empress or Cusack.

The OP is used to the PN2.

The smaller the better. . . the Goatkeeper looks sweet, but it's way too big.

I have a Digitech Hardwire tremolo pedal and I think it's great. It does the chopper thing and a whole lot more. It's not huge either.

Maybe it's not the right place to say this, but I've been horn-doggin' for the gig-fx "Chopper"...

If you're considering spending to get the Empress, the Diamond is nice as well.
