Hey guys,

I am using a Suhr Aldrich in my 2001 PRS SC and while I do like it, I'm thinking of checking out a Wolfetone Timbrewolf in this guitar. The Aldrich is rich in thr mids and has good low end oomph and I find it warm and beefy.
I used the Timbrewolf years ago and have it in another guitar but each guitar is different. This PRS seems pretty balanced overall.
Any Timbrewolf guys out there?
Wolfe is a great guy too.

I have one in an Agile 3100. It is the last of many pickups that were tried in that guitar. It’s there to stay. I’m actually considering one for my new LP Standard.

Timbre?
I may order one for my PRS and see. Problem is that guitar has gold covers so if I don't like it in that guitar, I can't just then go try it in my LP which has nickel covers. Darn gold covers.

Yep. Timbrewolf

The Timbrewolf I love but it is brighter than my Aldrich and my LP has plenty of high end so maybe that will stay with the Aldrich and I'll try the TW in my PRS SC.

I have a Timbrewolf in my ‘61 SG. It pretty much is a perfect balance between a PAF and a high output pickup. Sounds great with high gain or edge of breakup and cleans up well with the guitars volume. It’s much more open sounding than the Aldrich and less compressed. It does seem more prone to feedback though. I have a feeling that has to do with the cover though.

I have 2 Kauer Banshees with Wolfetones and I haven’t had an issue with squealing but I am more of a ‘hard rock’ guy than a metal guy. I like em, but never a/b’ed anything else in those guitars.

Is the Timbrewolfe unpotted? A lot of his pickups are and will squeal with high gain settings.
They’re potted but if the cover isn’t on tight sometimes you need to heat up the wax and let it flow into the cover. l’m pretty sure that’s the issue I’m having

Covered or uncovered?

Thanks for the input. I think I really enjoy that compression and dense thickness of the Aldrich. Seems to help my playing. Hard to explain.
I like that chewy, compressed feel I get with the Aldrich and even with my Tremonti.
I really like Wolfetone pickups and have used quite a few in guitars but every guitar responds differently.

That's why I never remove or add covers, lol. I don't mess with it. I leave that to the experts.

I can see it now.
"Mother fuck, no one told me to remove the pickup from the Guitar when heating it up"

That Surh Aldridge pickup is a Classic, like the Seymour Duncan JB, Dimarzio Evolution or Dimarzio Super Distortion.

I've used a hair dryer, worked great with older JBs, Customs etc that had some feedback. Just be careful not to leave it on high while keeping it focused too long in one spot...poof there goes the winding.
