Maybe Carvin? Really solid guitars, maybe a half step down from Suhr, but customizable for pretty cheap.

This is no slam on Carvin, but IMHO, they're more than a half-step down from Suhr. I mean that specifically relating to body shape, pickups, details, and tone. I've owned several Carvins and I own one Suhr so that's the extent of my experience. Carvin makes good guitars though, I'm not knocking that.

+1.

I've owned 5-6 Carvins. All 3 of the ones I ordered new had finish issues. Stuff that should just not get through QC. I even sent one back for a complete rebuild. They're a great company and I love the guitars. Would gladly own another 7 stringer. I just don't think they're that close to a Suhr. I sold the Carvins and the 3 EBMM guitars I had to buy 2 Suhr Moderns. I think guitars like Suhr, TA, Tyler and Grosh are on a "Whole Nuva Levul" than guitars like Carvin and even EBMM to some degree.

That said, I think Carvin is the best value in guitars. Noone offers as many models, options, etc. at any price point. And they're price point is amazing. I had a C66 with a flamed top that was just stupid-beautiful.

Lastly, I love my Charvel San Dimas Style 2. I paid $699 and can't believe how good it is.

Ha! I really thought that was funny. You are a better guitar player than you give yourself credit for.

IMHO, there are several manufacturers who make guitars on the same level as Suhr. Anderson, EBMM, and Carvin come to mind. The Carvin DC127C that I owned was a top notch guitar. And with all of the options that Carvin offeres it's hard to go wrong. Ernie Ball Music Man is another fantastic builder. In fact, after getting my EVH, and playing several other EBMM guitars, I think that they will be my company of choice from here on out. I am seriously that impressed with how well their guitars are made.

It's all about picking the flavor that you like. There really are no wrong choices when you get into that price range. All IMHO.

That is a kick ass finish!

I am surprised no one has mentioned Gutierrez? You can pretty much get anything you want and their prices are pretty good for a 100% custom!

I like Anderson's, grosh, tyler, but also a super builder that is every bit as good as any of these is PWE check them out here I have one and it kills, they are a bit more reasonable as well
Mine has the precision of a Suhr or anderson with the organic feel of a tyler or grosh
