Yep, Santa brought me Koko boost for Christmas!
I've been A/B'n these two boxes all morning and I hear some distinct differences. I can't say one is better than the other ... just different. Here's my take.
Koko Boost - Very transparent boost. I always thought the RF (Rocket Fuel) was the most transparent box I've heard but the Koko is more so. I love the way it pushes the amp and gives me more volume, gain and tightens up every thing. The mid boost side is also very cool. It keeps the basic character of my amp but adds boost in there selectable frequency ranges with what ever level I want.
Rocket Fuel - This box is pretty transparent too, however, it does color the tone a bit more than the Koko. That's not necessarily a bad thing. The color it does add (OD side) seems to warm the amp up some and take the edge off a bit. On some songs that's a good thing...on others it takes away from the bite that may be needed. I'd also like to mention that the boost side seems to add a little high end frequency. That's cool for that Strat or Tele sound but it's a little too much for an LP type tone.
All in all, If I had to pick one or the other I'd pick the Koko Boost. It just works better for my needs...but not by a whole bunch. Both boxes are pretty cool and I'll keep and use both depending on the application.
Yep...I love my new Koko!!!
