Mr. Suhr posted this at HRI earlier today:

Fender shape trademark on Body shapes
I just received the call......We won !!!
The body shapes are generic and free to use.
This is a historical Federal citable case and thanks to everyone who participated
We can all take a deep breath now.

Congrats, Suhr!

Congratulations John Suhr, Ed Yoon, and all of the staff at Suhr Guitars! You can continue making some of the greatest guitars on the market today!

Will this court decision make it possible for all the builders to start manufacturing all the body shapes without having to be worried about getting sued? Gibson vs. ESP explorer body shape battle comes to my mind.

Very cool...I know Tom Anderson was concerned about this as well.

As for the Explorer, I don't think that shape is quite as "generic" ;)

Oh yes, I re-read John's post and it looks like that I missed the word "generic"! :D

AWESOME!!!!!!!!

and you can buy a Suhr Pro for less than any CS Fender

Reminds me of the PRS case against Gibson, body is off limits but they can get you on the headstock shape? :)

Suhr guitars kick ass!

(Someday...someday I will have one...)

If I'm able to get a Suhr someday, I won't even use a trademark Fender case...........

I posted this over at the Petrucci forum. But if you're not posting about an EBMM or Mesa Mark series, alot of them get all poopy pants.

Headstock is already trademarked by Fender and this has not been changed. This case was about body shape of strat, fender and basses.
This was not only Suhr fight ofc, it would be too big fight for sucha small company.
There were also other companies fighting together vs Fender, including Anderson, Warmoth, Peavey and a lot others.
