Yo Digijams, you pay attention to the Ibanez market on ebay a lot? Whatever happened to KenVai, the guy that used to deal a shit ton of Ibanez necks?

Sounds like a case of Gibson-itis (marketing not quality wise)

Pricing aside, J Customs are on a completely different level than an "off the shelf" Ibanez.

I still would not pay $3500 for one, but they are very nice guitars.

Until you've tried one and used it extensively both in the studio and live, no one would have an idea as to how amazing these guitars actually are. I am fortunate enough to have 3 of them.....one of mine is a run of only 5. They are unbelieveable in every sense of the word from playability to construction to quality.

I have bought and sold so many high end guitars in the past and for some reason, I have kept my 3 J Customs and have desired no other guitar for the past 3 years. It's such a strange feeling when playing them....they have that beautiful broken in feeling yet always feel brand new to me.

I'm getting a 4th one shortly.

Sorry, I have something better.

I have a Sweetwater catalog that has an Ibanez selling for $5999

Same specs as the JC?

Same neck radius?

Same fret work?

Same wood combination?

Sure, if you order it that way....it's called a Custom Suhr Modern. I've got 3 of them myself, and while I've played various J-Customs in the past, the Suhrs have consistently slayed them. Better tops, better fretwork (plek'ed), and just better tone overall. That's a hoot....$3,499 for a J-Custom from Sweetwater, when you could spend much less for a Suhr Modern that is actually built to YOUR specs. I'll stick with my Suhrs! ;)

So you don't have the same specs that the JC player wants? Suhr does not make a 5 piece Wizard neck and his fret ends are not close to the JC. Anyone knows JC has the shit when it comes to dressing.

Suhr bodies are not cut as much as the JC for upper fret access

Plek'd is overrated, guitars for the past 60 years were not plek'd.

I do not own either model so not biased.

Silly debate, two totally different guitars and both over-priced when you see guys smoking on shit boxes.

Suhr is capable and more than willing to duplicate a Wizard neck if necessary (if given one to use + $$$)...as far as a 5 piece.....who cares, just kills tone anyways. You seem to overlook the fact, that Suhr has JC's beat in the ability to have them custom built to a customer's own specs. And, apparently...I'm not the only one who prefers Suhr's fretwork. Here is one example from the jemsite, where someone with a screen name of "OldIbanezGuy" states his (accurate) opinion, while comparing the two:
"I'd give the "build quality" edge to Suhr because of the fretwork. Suhr Pleks everything. Ibanez fretwork can be "ok" at best, but its hit and miss. Usually but not always they can be set 'medium to medium low', but never 'super low' like I prefer, without some aftermarket work. They aren't the most level on any example I've seen, and I've seen a lot over the years, and they dont glue them in or crimp the tangs so they tend to be loose and move around some over the years, making them less level than when they left the factory. They should really invest in at least glueing the frets or adjusting the tang/fret slot on the high end stuff, and get a Plek machine. For what they charge, they can afford it."

The JC has slightly better upper fret access. Big whoop....the upper fret access on the Modern is plenty for most players.

Spoken just like someone who has never owned a guitar with a plek'd fretboard. It's okay....I would not expect you to understand the difference. ;)

Exactly, you don't even have a dog in this hunt. While, I have played various JC's and own 3 Suhr Moderns.....which therefore allows me to overrule your opinion on the matter anyhow. What can I say? Haters are gonna hate!

If someone wants a J-custom they want a J-custom, if someone wants a Suhr they want a Suhr.

I hate it when people tell me what I want or dont want, it makes we want that item even more.
