i had one of the cabs Ric St Pierre from wizard made for him in the 80's.
it had a piano black, gloss paint job instead of tolex, had the old hiwatt style angled "the other way" baffle, and other than that, looked pretty primative. totally sealed on the back, and front loaded, no casters, weighed 100lbs+ easy.
g12-65 loaded. yeah...i'm an idoit for getting rid of it.

pics or it didn't happen....

John had 6 of those Wizard cabs at one point. We sold 4 of them around 1999 or 2000. I think we sold them to Black Market Music. Later he played his two remaining Wizard cabs on a Thin Lizzy tour and realized they sounded really good. A year or so after that, one of the four cabs he sold showed up on craigslist locally and he bought it back. They are indeed heavy beasts.

Old Ampeg bottom cabs are front loaded and solid fyi...cabs/speakers are commonly overlooked.

Two "No Stripe" Mark III Coliseums. Trust me.

Thank you Drew for weighing in. Appreciated!
I should add/remind peeps that I believe Braintheory has one of these, and likes it more than his C+. So I think if anyone has a chance to buy a no stripe Coli you shouldn't hesitate.

If only for the fact that it's a Coli!

My No Stripe coli though has the ++ mod done by Mike B. It was close before the mod and sounds dead on since getting the ++ mod

Mike B told me though that he had to mod it a bit differently than when he did the ++ mod on my 2 blue stripe colis. He said it was a bit harder and more extensive to mod, so charged me more than when he did my blue stripe, but was well worth it. It made me wonder if it’s the same mod or not, but whatever he did worked out perfectly

The 2 blue stripe colis I have sound identical, just very different volume tapers. One of them gets crazy loud at 1. My no stripe though sounds way bigger, beefier and just a lot better than my 2 blue stripe colis with the ++ mod. The blues still sound great though and are a little bit tighter and have more bite and upper mid presence which can be good. I also like the cleans on blue stripe colis better than either my c+ or no stripe coli. They sound more sparkly and fendery. Whenever I slave an amp into my colis for a huge sound, I tend to run through the blue stripe coli for cleans and the no stripe for everything else, although I still would use my HH more often for its transparency

I have a IIB Coliseum no stripe head with reverb & loop mod.
Only the Mark IIIs had stripes..first version was a no stripe.

Was definitely a pair of Mark III, no stripes (I see confirmed by Drew above as well). I think the confusion could be the fact that he did have a pair of Mark IIC+ heads at the time as well, and all 4 of them were similar looking long heads (though one of the C+ was in white tolex). I have an old pic of the 4 heads floating around somewhere, sitting on top of the metal front Mesa slant cabs. I can try to dig it up if anyone is interested.

Hell, I think I have pics of a couple of the Recto, C+, Triaxis live rigs from the ‘90s as well.

Thanks Braintheory. I'm kicking myself for not picking up that no stripe KG in Germany a few months ago! Colis are the only Marks I truly love.

I slaved my red stripe III into my IIB+ KRG when it was stock, I should do it again now that it's a III++.
