Synyster Ghey & Pack me with a Vengeance

I refuse to listen to anything past Waking The Fallen, although I saw them earlier this year for the novelty of seeing what they've become.

I seen them every time they have ever played in MN. Haven't missed one yet. They are great live and have been better than their last show everytime! They Destroyed Disturbed on the UpRoar tour this year. I almost felt bad for disturbed until that little fucktard singer opened his mouth.

Wow... I can't believe someone resurrected this thread

Funny... I was just listing on my IPOD to Judas Priest Unleashed in the East the other day and I thought it was one of the best live metal ablums ever made, then some old Maiden, then Unearth, then Firewind, then Hate Breed, then Arch Enemy, Despied Icon, then Carcass, then Madball, then DOKKEN B.F.T.A. (ya bitches!), then Exodus, 3 inches of blood, then Satch, then Megadeth, then Mortification, Living Sacrifice, Deliverence and Recon and even some DICK DALE!!! WOOT!!!...

BUT NEVER AX7... ugghhh

I heard them ages ago and thought they blew gay cock and then recently I heard about 1/2 of a song off thier newest CD and had to throw in some Suicidal Tendencies to rinse out my ears as AX7 was so gay and lame... They are the Astro-glide poster boys of this music generation IMO...

As for current "today" shred players there are FAR better ones out there keeping it real... It's just that they are not on the cover or inside of every other issue of some guitar mag...

It's funny, but people rarely have much to say about the music itself. It's always "A7X are posers, they dress like fags, they're sellouts, listen to REEEEL METAL (insert cookie-cutter hardcore/thrash band here)". Never really much about the music itself. I'd like someone to do a technical comparison of Synyster Gates and somebody else, sticking purely to music theory and not making a single reference to their image or the fact that they've sold out (like you wouldn't if you had the chance!)

Note, as before, that I've mentioned that Synyster Gates is not the greatest guitar player of all time, not anywhere close. But he's pretty damn good by today's popular music standards.

He's a good guitarist, but a musician's credibility should come from his ability to write good music, and not his technical ability. IMO, his music isn't good, although the playing is fine. I can't get past the overall sound of the band to appreciate anything that guitarist might have to offer.

This is one of the Best Thread Titles Ever and pretty much sums it up.

A cool list of bands IMO. 8)

I'll probably throw on some Kreator, Cro-Mags, Believer, Vinnie Moore, Testament, the Crucified, Symphony X, the Absence, etc., later.

One thing that I'll give the A7X haters is: I can't stand most of their fans. There's something just wrong with a lot of them. A lot of ignorance, immaturity, and lack of knowledge goes into making a lot of A7X fans. Statements like, "Jimmy/Syn is the best drummer/guitarist ever" annoy me to no end. People who go out and buy the Syn Custom and their Marshall MG's and put on striped gloves and makeup and tight pants are the kings of poserdom. Although I love seeing A7X in concert, I hate seeing the pathetic excuse for a fanbase. Every once in a while, someone older than 12 will come out and thrash the younger kids in a pit (which I LOVE seeing), but for the most part the fan base is made up of skinny, pussy emo kids. And it's gotta be an embarassment for the band as well, knowing that the people that gave them their fame and fortune are like that. The third time I saw A7X in concert, I thought to myself: "This looks like a Tim Burton movie".
