I get that...but it IS a guitar magazine...not a magazine about songwriting. Im sure there are cooking magazines that feature world class chefs who would sell a billion copies if they broke down how to make a Big Mac at home taste just like McDonalds instead of a recipe of something french nobody can pronounce.

the 80s had so many cool up and coming guitarists but now we have nothing but shit like these avenged sevenfold faggots. ther everywhere i look and getting praised like their malmsteen or some other guiatar god of today
the only decent guitarists that are around in todays metal scene are probably alexi laiho and that dude oli herbert....maybe even ryan knight
even though the 80s had the glam (gay L.A. metal) the guitarists in the hair bands were actually decent ........ they dont make guitarists like they used to

these guys were out 10 years ago a7x, that is. so, 20 years time technically, will be 2020.
personally, i HATE that emo hair, tight jeans, and the image. not interested in the goth, or any of that other shit either.
some of the songs don't bother me....and there's some guitar work in there that i'd not be embarassed to say i'd steal a lick or two from. and, i could be a lot less happy that my 6 year old daughter has bat country on her ipod and air guitars to it. so, it just is what it is.

Once again, its all relative. When I was a teenager worshipping Rhoads, EVH, Lynch, DeMartini, Malmsteen, Vai, etc the older dudes didn't get it and thought they were all lame. I swore that when my day came, I'd keep an open mind to the next generation. Its here and I can appreciate it for what it is even though I don't care for much of it.
FWIW, I couldn't even name one AX7 song...I don't listen to them. I've only heard the current stuff because of Portnoy. I like some Slayer but not because of the guitar playing.

Aside from looking the stupid emo part, I wouldn't consider their music emo. I'm not a fan by any stretch, but at least they can play. I saw them at ozzfest one year and they seemed to be right on(didn't know any of their songs). I was impressed that they were super tight as a band, technically proficient and mass appealing to a fairly wide array of people that seemed to be into them. For a forum that regularly bitches about technically deficient mainstream popular music - I don't get how you rip these guys.
Their on covers of everything cause they just released an album, they can actually play guitar, their drummer died and is being replaced/filled in for by one of the most talented drummers around---doesn't seem hard to figure out.
Maybe everyones pissed cause he's not in DT anymore
