Silversun Pickups
Coheed and Cambria

I love both of these bands, vocals included.

I would say lamb of god. excellent music but I don't like the vocals.

Their Killadelphia video made Randy out to be a thoroughly prize-winning helmet, but over the years he's become a real ambassador for that band I think and endured some truly awful hurdles. Getting through it with his head held high and showing real humility and integrity. I think LOG are a better band with him personally, but certainly each to his own.

Lamb of God like the tunes hate the singing/screaming. Also Dream Theater, Phil Anselmo screaming only can listen to him on cemetery gates. I like a lot of heavy bands but hate gutteral screaming. Give me Halford and Zak Stevens of Savatage Circle to Circle TSO.

DREAM THEATER!!!!

When I saw this thread ^^^this^^^ was my 1st gut reaction. And it's funny... cuz Labries solo stuff has some really good moments.. maybe it's the screamo drummer that helps(tho I hate that shit)... but I dig Sfogli and for some reason Labrie sounds like a man on his later solo stuff. You put Jorn Lande in DT and it's a whole new ballgame(but same theatrics)... maybe.... what do I know... Dream Theater has done pretty damn well.. I do maintenance for a living...lol.

and in all honesty and respect... I LOVE Myles Kennedy as a person, artist and singer... but outside of Blackbird and a few other tunes... I feel Alter Bridge needs a more chest driven singer... Myles fits the Slash band like a T... I still believe Alter Bridge hasn't captured what they are capable of sound wise... just my opinion. Again, Im just a maintenance technician... been a musician/giggin for 20+yrs... I have no money and some worn out picks to prove it. :) Cheers

Good observations. Labrie was absolutely an acquired taste for me. Did not like him at all at first listen, but he grew on me. And, in the present....I like him with DT, but I prefer him even more on his solo stuff. Nowadays, my biggest issue with DT is not him, but DT's music in general. The past fifteen years have done very little for me. But, I dig Labrie's solo music and even his work with Mullmuzzler. And, there again it took me a lot of time to appreciate Myles Kennedy, but now I really like him. Mostly with Slash....but, as of late I have been on a big Alter Bridge kick. Once only a casual listener, lately I've been digesting their entire catalog. I've got the utmost respect for Kennedy and Tremonti for their contributions in their various bands/projects.

wow so much hate for Labrie, I always thought he was awesome in IAW and good parts of Awake, I think after Moore left Labrie was forced into a more heavy incarnation of DT and the overall result suffered.

Anyhow, I'd happily listen to every metal band without the screamo cookie monster style of singer, I'd start with listening a lot more of Soilwork for example.

Also perhaps, AC/DC, I really enjoy when Phil X covers them.. I find myself thinking "this is a great song" but can't stand the originals, flame on.

Dream Theater, God Forbid, and Nevermore.

DT and God Forbid have one song each that I can actually fully enjoy (Pull Me Under, The Antihero) but fucking Nevermore is unlistenable across the entirety of their expansive catalogue.

Pretty much any modern metal involving unmusical screaming, yelling, yowling, growling, hissing, snarling, or ululating.

Cool thread.

Arch Enemy for me. FANTASTIC guitars. Bad singing.

The new singer or Angela Gossow the original singer?

Man not only do I love Angela's vocals in Arch Enemy, but she's in my top ten for all the metal bands I listen to.

DT was never the same after Kevin Moore left.
