New cheap Amazon Bass tuner is due to arrive today so I hope I can get that going tonight.
Price range on these tuners seem to go from cheap $12 to $150+; nothing in between(?)

Kruse EVH 5150 50w is due back today as well. Great tones there, but I think I am settling in with the OR100 as the amp for this project. FX8 lends some clean OD in the front (I was using a ZenDrive for today's solo, way cool!) and a para EQ in the loop (hi pass and some strategic tight Q hi cuts to lose the whistle). A couple of Peavey HPs with Bare Knuckle (Juggernaut, Blackhawk) and at the end into the TNL:

If I can fix my bass I'll throw up some clips soon...

Oh, I have a fathead... not sure I am in love with it though. I use it to fill out the 57's on the guitars but i find it rather thick with the top end considerable rolled off. With lower ceilings, I think if anything, I need a little more clarity and top end for overheads.
Yes, ribbons are warm. If you're looking for cheap, I wonder how some of the low cost sdc would work for you? Definitely a condenser of some sort would be the way to go I would think.

lots of guitars and bass tracked...
At this stage I wanted to have complete or at least the foundation of the music so i can start racking vocals. While I hope to get the tracks right, I expect that I would go back and redo most of it to play off the performance of the vocals. Kind of an asynchronous jam that keeps circling around so that tracks are more intertwined.

I though I played well, but the tones are not what I want. The clarity and attack is there, but in my quest for that I think I lost the body/power of the guitars.
Here is one of the first tracks... I used TNL with a 57 on a Tangerine 4x12 for all tracks here, along with a clean OD Boost on a few guitars. Probably went to far and need to try different mics.

So after hearing that, I decided to cvhange up the mics and use a 121, no OD, less gain...here is the sound for that:

I better figure out WOS or IR Blender so I can get a better ir going....any tips or video tutorials appreciated!
Otherwise I may just mic it up old school and anger the neighbors.
