Hey man, any chance can you compare these to an Ibanez RG Prestige? Ever owned one of those?

Looking at both the Mayo Duvell and the Ibanez.

The Ibanez I'm looking at is the RG652MPBFX Prestige.

Looking at both the Mayo Duvell and the Ibanez.

Never played one of those, sorry. I've had a few Ibanez in the past though. But I've yet to play one that impressed me. So I'm kind of biased... But like I said, the Duvell Elite is probably the best guitar I've ever played for the type of music I'm into. Definitely not a classic rock type of guitar. Or even a "shredder" really. They are tight and punchy and clear and articulate and have a thick, growly mid-range at the same time. The build quality rivals that of PRS and Suhr and the like. But they're also about 2-3x the price of that Ibanez, so maybe not a good comparison.

Got ya. Well the way you described the response/sound seems like its exactly what I'm after. I play mostly modern thrash, death rhythm stuff (Not a shredder and don't even play leads really) but I'm a sucker for articulation, clarity, and punch, I'm partial to some sharp snap in the low notes as opposed to the rounder thud I seem to get from my LP. Pretty happy with my walnut Carvin ST300 in that respect but looking for something with even better fit to finish, punch and an even more articulate response.

Yeah I hear ya on the price thing; not really apples to apples there I guess. Didn't know if the Mayo maybe fell under the law of diminishing returns or if they really are worth the extra coin.

Duvell is what I prefer. If you go Regius get swamp ash and you're back in the ball park.

Give one a try if you can. I took the gamble buying 1 (or 3) sight unseen. And I'm happy I did.

Considering the price, I think for now I'm leaning towards the RG prestige I've been eyeballing.
