There's one for $500 locally, just wondering if it's reliable, etc.. I've heard a few clips on youtube but that's about it. Maybe to use for shows where my Mesa Tverb would be a bit much. Got an incoming Danelectro Fish n Chips 7 band EQ pedal coming. Would it help to use an EQ in the loop to beef up for modern metal in drop B?

Some might disagree but I found it to be a little flubby in the bottom end, but my ears are shot I need everything bright and tight...for 500 check it out though...

So I take it you had one? I actually just got another EQ pedal off eBay, a newer MXR 6-Band as well. Would an EQ help in the effects loop? I was looking at a couple used ht-5 heads locally too

It's all subjective as far as tone but I didn't sound good through it, I'm sure an eq will help that though, funny I just grabbed an mxr 6 band eq as well, sounds good but a little hiss, grabbed mine used not sure if the newer ones are quieter, as far as the head it just sounded dark to me and I like a bright amp, thus the subjectivity but they do get great reviews and I've heard others sound great through them as well, I don't jive with rectos either and others sound great through them, I see you have a 6505, love em!

I had the HT5 for a while and didn't really like it. It's not the same amp of course but they share some same tonal characteristics. It depends what style of music you will be playing but for metal it will be a big step down from your tremoverb... I felt the HT series sounded a bit muddy and dark as lampshade said. Then again, some people love them so you might like it, just not for me.
