Any info on this one? I cant find many clips of it. What stlye is this one best at? It will be going in an Alder body Maple neck strat style guitar.
I would be putting it in an Alder strat. Which one do you like better?Bronco":nmqpfux3 said:It's pretty hot, is very thick but articulate, and has some pretty pronounced upper mids. I have one in my Mahogany strat, and a Black Iron (Angle Dust w/ A2) in an Alder strat. Probably would compare the Angle Dust to a SD Custom 5, but admittedly that's from a limited pool.

Im looking for one that is great for 80' metal. Not hairband.OUTLAW1969":o2unq274 said:parntz145":o2unq274 said:I would be putting it in an Alder strat. My vote would be for the Black Iron in that guitar.......but if you change your mind, and decide that you want the Angel Dust later....try a quick change to A5 magnet to see if you like that better. If you like it, you can leave it that way, or order an Angel Dust from Wade.
I was having a similar issue with a swamp ash/ maple top and maple board and neck. The BK nailbomb did it just right per Tims recommendation. This was my fourth nailbomb. It woked in two of three guitars I tried it in. I honestly didn't love the holy diver. It was good but didn't do it for me in an Alder body Jackson. I have tried quite a few BK'srokker":219mgqh6 said:I had black irons in a suhr alder strat and felt they were too bright. Good pickups but probably better in a mahogany guitar than alder.
I'm finding Alder to be bright in general and am having trouble finding a the right pickup for it.
Am trying the WCR murkat now...darkburst (awesome in an LP) were too bright too.
If you are playing a marshallish amp think you will find the BI's to be bright.
Finding the right pickup for the right guitar is not easy....if the WCR doesn't work..I'm going with a BKP Holy Diver.

Described as a great version of a JB, that does sum it up - it has that mid quality but it isn't wildly exaggerated. In an Alder body I found it to be about perfect except I did miss some bloom on the high notes. Being high output it seemed to favor some amps and not so much others.

IMO, lacking clarity and responding to picking attack/expressiveness that I usually prefer, but for a high output pup it was not bad - par for the course if that is the direction you are headed. It might be interesting to hear it by underwinding it a bit and bringing down the DC around 12.
