Tell me about your go-to amp at the moment

Been sitting in labor and delivery all day since really early morning, wife is asleep, baby seems content to stay right where he is for several more hours. Please give me something interesting to read.

Of the amps you have now, what's the go to amp and why does it win out at the moment over the others?

Right now I am really enjoying my slo with depth,haynes and mid mods. It is just so different sounding than all the rest and keeps me fresh on my playing.

right now its the EVH 5153. True its really 1 of 2 actual amps I have had but been through a few to know this is gonna stay for awhile. I like it cause it can cover a good variety of sounds, and still hit the full on distortion stuff killer. just a nice sounding amp for rythm AND lead

I've been digging my VHT 50 CL. The footswitch on Bogner Ecstasy101B is jacked up so I've haven't played it a for a few days. I'm actually liking the VHT better than the Bogner too

This is on my "must own soon and before I die amps". I am envious.

I have been digging my RM100 with a mix of the 4 current modules I have at the moment. Versatile, plays well with a RP1000 in the 4CM set up for effects, and sounds great.

Marshall JTM45. With my Hermida ported 2x12 it's depth and clarity are stunning. Screams and is also fat and warm.
Anybody who's heard it in the last 4 or 5 years comments on my tone. Engineers, sound guys, players as well as singers and drummers all love it. Singers like to sing over it because it's such a big fat warm tone with just enough bite. Very musical tone.

Thanks guys! Wife woke up right after my post. She's managed to fall back a sleep after some massaging, but I'm way to amped up to sleep right now. So freaking excited, I cannot wait too hold him!!!

Loved the 50CL I played. Would have bought it but made the mistake of playing a VH4 immediately after. JTM is too manly for me; no way I could get that amp to its sweet spot. Probably the same for the SLO.

First jam tonight in a while with the VHT UL and gawd damn, sure is a clear sounding amp. I backed off on the gain on the lead to about 1 o`clock and when playing alone, without the band, it seems a bit dry and lacking in gain, but when the band kicks in....Perfect.

I miss my NATAS.

Next jam, i`m plugging the Peters back up. Watch out then.

My goto amp now is very simple and sounds great. I have been using Tech 21 Power Engine 60 with whatever choice of T-21 Character Series Pre I feel like using. The PE has a super clean, colorless tone and the preamps color the sound for me depending on what tone I want. Clean or dirty.

I can daisy chain the PE infinitely depending on how much power I need.

My go-to amp is a Fender '57 Champ Reissue. It's a hand-wired, 5 watt, 8 inch Weber speaker monster. It has the perfect living room/music room volume for a townhouse complex, and the tone is phenomenal. Plug in a Les Paul, and the Champ roars. A Strat with jangly pups makes the Champ jangle, a Strat with growly pups makes the Champ growl, and a Tele makes it twang. I love how you can really hear the guitar's natural tone through it, although there's definitely more dirt in the high-end than most Fender amps I have played. It also takes my Fuzz Face and Wah pretty well, so I'm assuming it's probably pedal-friendly, but then again I'm not a big pedal guy.

It fits my needs perfectly, but it's definitely not for everyone. It's good for home use, recording, and the occasional solo bar gig, although I'm pretty sure it can also be cabbed if playing with a drummer. To put things in perspective, I was asked to join a gigging Manhattan cover band this weekend as a rhythm guitarist, but I turned it down because I have little to no interest in playing live. I told him that I'm perfectly content having my couch as my stage and my wife and our new French Bulldog as my audience.
