The early-mid '70s (up to around '77) is, for me, the best era of music.

Genesis
Yes
King Crimson
Deep Purple
Camel
Judas Priest
Black Sabbath
Tangerine Dream
Robin Trower
Mahavishnu Orchestra
etc

All wrote their best stuff in that era. Then punk came along and ruined everything (though, to be honest, by that stage prog had become incredibly stagnant...).

Great vids. The OP has some burning Ernie Isley and Frank Marino solos. It took me 40 years to find the Isly Bros appearence on video. The rest are other acts I like from Don Kirshner's Rock Concert. A damn shame a Licensing Co owns all the Don Kirshner footage. I doubt it will ever see home release.

It was better than Cats.

Anyway - 70s was a massively influential era in my upbringing musically. I'd written this really well thought out and detailed message and the board did a loop-dee-loop and my typing was gone. So keeping this one short and sweet - 70s were awesome; and cool enough, the guitars were always the center of attention. Loved it. Genesis, Focus, Winter, Mountain, Yes, Hendrix, STONES, Zappa, KISS, Sabbath, the list is just killer.

I find porn from that era was better too. Mind all the bush and all, but it was better. Just sayin'.

There are few things I hate more than musical theater. I was coerced into seeing Cats a long time ago by an ex-GF and frankly I'd have rather undergone a colonoscopy without anesthesia...

How much does this live version of "Fire and Water" rock! Damn, I needs me a Les Paul!

I ended up picking up this Nik Huber Hollywood Krautster II (like a two pickup LP Jr. kinda...) and sticking a set of BareKnuckle Mississippi Queen hum sized P90s in it and I'm getting some sweet 70s style tones from the green channel of the Cherry Bomb with the gain down a bit. I was playing "Brown Sugar" and man, it was album tone for sure. I'll record it... I know Keef and Mick didn't use P90s on that, but damn it sounds close...

As much as I loved the 80's, the majority of what I love comes from the 70's. I guess that Im lucky to be a product of both decades due to my age (50) , I kinda fell in the middle. Looking back, when it comes to rock, Its hard to find a decade that was better or more diverse IMHO.

That song and that performance is the definition of swagger, attitude and feel. So stupidly simple but how many can deliver it, hardly any. To me it's an example of the intangible human spirit. This incredibly simple form but only certain folks will make you really feel something with it. I can listen to this a 1000 times while something infinitely more intricate will bore me to tears.
