Just something we knew from the very beginning. ;)

Shit, the Ubershall was my first boutique amp craze, I know more about it than I'd like to admit. I find it the most fun to play amp.

Can people please remove tranny pics from their sigs & avatars now. It creeps me out.

He is pretty ROCK N ROLL isnt he??

TADDA!!!!!

Just added to the auction:

NOTE: We have pulled the chassis--it has blue PC boards, though there also appear to be differences in how the input power transformer affixes to the board compared to the later heads and the bias ports are merely rigged in. Until we take apart an older revision 2 to see what it looks like, we have no clue as to what it all means. As such, this head will most likely be pulled from auction and we will have Bogner go through it and carefully date ever part in the chain. I'll see if the footswitch has any dating clues inside of it, as well. Nonetheless, Bogner says we are looking at August, `04. However, we apparently need a little more surety with this particular head--it's just a little gray area we need to get nailed down. We may simply have Bogner max this head out and tune `er up while we're at it.

Straight from Bogner's website:

*** Uberschall changes implemented after 8/16/04, Adjustable Loop send and Volume Cut function, Bias Test Points, Uberschall Power Amp Mod::

We have added a potentiometer for the effects loop send level, this gives two benefits.

Adjustable Loop send. First, this allows you to optimize the effect loops send level into your effect units input, this can prevent overloading of the effect units input and allows you to use a wide range of effect units.

Volume Cut function. Second benefit. When no effect unit is plugged in the loop, the pot can be used as an adjustable "boost in reverse". Here's how to use this function as a boost, make sure no effect unit is in the loop: Turn the effect loop on and then turn DOWN the effect loop send control on the back panel to adjust your "normal" non-boosted volume level. When you turn the effects loop OFF the amp will get louder, instant boost! Perfect for solos! Once your happy with the ratio of boost to non-boost, then you can adjust the Global master volume on the front panel to determine your overall maximum volume level.

Service Technician Emergency Bias test points: We have added individual tube Bias test points for use by Service technicians only. We use and recommend the more accurate and detailed Scope/Signal Generator method of bias adjustment in addition to these test points. Note: Many non-professional Multimeters are are not accurately calibrated and suffer from a high degree of error tolerance. This feature was added for Service Techs to provide a "quick initial test".

Common or ground plug insert is White color and the four individual tube plug inserts are Blue color. Set your multimeter to mV setting, 1mV = 1mA reading. Connect your multimeters ground test lead to the White/Common insert and the multimeters postive test lead to one Blue/Tube insert. Adjust Bias to 25 mA, +/- 2 or 3 mA. Matched tubes may have +/- 5% tolerences.

Uberschall Power Amp Mod:

The Uberschall now features on amps made after 8/16/04 a muted power amp when no input is plugged into the front input jack. If you wish to use the power amp portion of the Uberschall with another preamp you must do the following: Plug in a "dummy input jack" into the front panel input to activate the circuit. Turn the effects loop on. Select the "dirty" or high gain channel. Now you can use the Global Master volume for your level and also the Presence control on the high gain channel becomes active as well.

I am sure he still left this part in it.....

ps--hey geniuses, ya see any bias test points on the rear of this head?? You people are amazingly dim if you can't tell a revision 2 from a a Blue (which we are also selling one of, by the way). What's worse is that you people should stick to retail; as ebay is not the place for you insofar as you question things like this--I mean, it's not as though we are selling our first amp here!!

:D

Nope, he took everything out.

But he still can't just admit it's a REVISION BLUE.

I will offer him $500 since it cant be determined what it is thru his EXPERT eyes.
Even with his vast musical knowledge.......the word BLUE on the back of the amp must mean a guy named BLUE wrote his name when he put it together....yeah...JOE BLUE built this amp.

That just HAS TO BE IT!!

The bias points aren't just merely rigged in, they're part of the PCB. There will not be any flying leads going directly to them. If the boards are BLUE as he now admits, then the bias test points are active in that amp. As for as the power issue, Bogner probably made the EIC power cord connector a part of the PCB when they switched to it, but that I can't answer for sure without seeing one first hand.

Not Bogner.....JOE BLUE did that when he slapped the amp together then signed his name to the chasis. BLUE. :D

I just wish I could have been there when he un-boxed that amp and read REVISION BLUE right above the serial number!! :lame:

I love 'em!!

I actually did a lot of research on the Uberschall when I went looking for one. I wanted to know what the differences were between the various versions. The Original and REV2 are almost identical, the only main differences being the Gain channel "Gain" control taper and the handle (leather or plastic). The Revision Blue was a change up to the circuit and power section, and not in a direction that I was looking for. So I clearly decided I wanted the Rev2 and went looking. I posted a WTB thread here on Rig-Talk and RustyMcTavish replied that he had one he wasn't using and what he would sell it for. The price was fair, so I bought it. I've never regretted that purchase. Of all those amps I own in my sig, it's still my favorite, and that right there says a lot.

I could send him a message that says:

"Apology accepted. Would you like my PayPal account so you can deposit my $500?"

That right there would be enough for another weeks worth of b.s.!!

In all seriousness, I'm not an asshole. But this guy asked for it and he got it. Live and learn.

And he adds this to the Q&A in his auction!!

:hys:

Time to collect. Look whose balls are feeble now :D
