useful info and serious discussion have been on the decline...

This site is still useful....I posted a pro/con thread and got a bunch of responses. There are members here that I wouldn't hesitate to PM/text to ask them something as I've done it in the past with great success. As far as serious discussion, it comes and goes....just like anything else.

Do you ALWAYS talk in the same tone and about the same subjects with your friends? Me neither.

If it dies, it dies. My life is not going to end just because RT does, and neither should yours...besides, there are plenty of places to talk gear....Talkbass, TGP, GAB, SSO, MLP, HugeRacks etc.... Play your guitar; don't worry about the place where you TALK about playing your guitar.

Whoaooo man! I dont recall saying anything to the effect that I wouldn't be able to carry on without R.T. I actually learned how to play guitar before the internet even existed, so yeah, if this bbs bites the dust it aint no big deal for me really.
I also never said that the site was useless, just pointed out that it has been on the decline.
I also don't have anything personal against Chater-La, other than not being a fan of the way her outfit runs the websites they purchase. Yes, the Kemper thread is old, but it does make a point. Lets hope it stays down in a sub forum that nobody really uses, and doesn't become the template for posts in the main forum. If it does end up going that way, no sweat really, it will just be the end of a pretty cool site. Nothing more. I certainly didn't mean to imply that it would be a life changing event for any of us.

Chater-La's actually 100% solid. There's nothing wrong with her overseeing this site, and she's definitely not a Scott Peterson style mod (thank fucking gawd!!).

The situation here is, well, with my limited experience as a member...things were very good here. We had direct communication with some very esteemed amp manufacturers, and the respect was there in the posts, questions and comments, and most certainly with the reciprocation thereof.

Somewhere along the line, BK thought it wise to combine ownership of this site with his own retail pursuits. Still, not a bad thing, pretty smart business move and most anyone of us, given the capacity to do so, likely would have tried it on.

However, retail and "other outside influences" started taking precedence over the quality of this site and its incoming member "selection", shall we say. Further to this, a non-born-wannabe-rockstar started acting like a rockstar, and unfortunately, ultimately, paid the price - through poor decisions, inflated ego, bad affiliations, control-issues, and a host of other issues that "crop up" when one is not living, acting, or being who they truly are. If yer a fake, act as long as you can, but it's always best to stay in yer own movie.

Circumstances lead to consequences. During the last 3 (+/-) years? Ya, a lot of momma's basement pro's and armchair critics came on here and HCAF-land was reborn. Some of the old timers left. Some of them even called bullshit and were nuked for speaking their mind. Some of them actually really DID need to go (King Crimson/Black Sabbath). But Carl? Solid cat. Among a host of many others. And when the good get yanked for speaking solid word, that shit doesn't wash clean. So they leave, their buds back away, and the site becomes a kindergarten play ground with everyone acting and talking kingshit.
