The correct course of action is to buy a too loud superior sounding tube amp, then plug it into an IR loader to digitally approximate a speaker and then listen to it through studio monitors to control the volume.
Transistors will suck the tone right out!

It matters when your tinnitus is louder than a conversation and your hearing is so damaged that you can't even appreciate what good tone is anymore.

I’m actually hung up on getting an orange otone40 right now.
Last thing in the world I need but I’m just a sucker for any combo with trem in it.

I don't know. I wore/wear hearing protection when I ride motorcycles and mow the lawn and use power tools etc. I practiced for long hours with an amp at low levels. When I was younger I used to be in a rehearsal studio with a band with no sound proofing and concrete walls... I stood next to a drummer in close proximity... Maybe it was too loud... maybe it's genetic... maybe it's partly getting older... maybe it's all of the above. Maybe it was virus... who knows...
