we went through all of this when the Bogner pedals came out...sure they're good pedals but they not substitutes for the actual amps
+1 on this..lmmfao..it's going to have 100 watts of depth and headroom...selling all my amps and get a pa and distortion pedal

So, if I stick the pedal in front of my Marshall or Hiwatt it won't have depth or headroom?

That's not what he's saying at all. The OP was talking about replacing an amp with a pedal.

What the pedal does great is turn your favorite non-Friedman amp into a fire breathing Friedman-esque modded head (without the mod)!

For my Marshall, here is what sounds best (as a boost)):

18v
Bass 3:00
Treble 12:00
presence 9:00
Volume 1:00
gain 8:00
trim pot - all the way off

To me it would just make sense for friedman to do a demo of a BE-100 and then the Pedal through the BE-100 clean channel or a fender hooked up to the same 4x12 as the BE just was. It is a no brainer. Do the videos in that huge room with the stereo 4x12's that they used to film the Phil X playing BE-100 video.

I played both the runt and smallbox and pink taco and the sound was good , not great but the feel of the amps were very different. The runt seemed much more stiff and harder to play than the small box and pink taco. That was the feeling I got anyway.

The Filtering is stiffer in the runt thats why. People wanted more cut out of the amps.

Thanks for the input in this thread Dave. It must be difficult at times to look at web forum threads about the fruits of your blood, sweat, and tears. I don't think I could do it. Too much stress! But I applaud your involvement in the internet community and no doubt that kind of personal investment partially explains why your creations are so well liked and received.

And in case it hasn't been obvious, I think your new pedal kicks ass. If my dealer had a Buxom Betty in stock, I'd get to satisfy the question that's been on my mind for some time now... how does the BE-OD sound into a Betty? If it had a loop in it, my dealer may have ordered one, but he's a big fan of loops and that may play a role in his decision not to order one. He's been selling the hell out of the Mini Shirleys though. Best lunchbox we've ever played!

I get what you're saying, but geez man... isn't Pete Thorn's kickass video enough to satisfy your curiosity? It's a friggin $200 pedal. If you're that curious just buy one. If it doesn't move you, you can flip it at a minimal loss. We're not talking about the financial risk of boutique amp-flipping here.

For me it turns my cleans into another Channel on my amp.... Killer pedal!!!!

This is exactly what I am looking for out of this pedal. Great alternative for a different high gain tone.

Great setup there! But trust me... you need a Friedman 4x12 holding up those heads. Best 4x12 I've ever heard, including my old Bogner Uberkab.

Thanks.... Ya I'm going to be getting a cab soon....

A pedal will never replace everything going on in an amp, however I finally figured out what I'm noticing with this pedal versus a lot of others I've tried. It really is the FEEL because it is not the amount of gain, EQ, etc. It has this spongy feel but still tight and a great grind. Hard to explain until you have played one.

I completely forget it is a pedal until I hit the footswitch and go back to a completely clean sound. Then I go "that's right, there is no distorted amp in the chain!".

FFS, it's a PEDAL.

It's a PREAMP... and a damn good one at that.
No, it's a PEDAL! Small, square, has a bunch of knobs and an on/off switch. So its a pedal. Don't make it out to be GOD.

  Some of you Friedman fanbois make my comical day!
Enjoy it. I'm sure its cool.

Pull your head out. I never said that it was "god". And if you haven't even plugged into one yet, what the hell are you even running your mouth in this thread for???
