Plugged my BE-OD directly into the FX return on my Splawn Quickrod yesterday and voila... sounded pretty much just like the drive channel on my Smallbox. So yeah... I stand behind my remark calling the BE-OD a "preamp". ;)

I do this too with my PT20 for home recording metal stuff... way more heavy sounding than the PT20's preamp.

Also going to try it with my Fryette Power Station!

I've been wondering this for a while, can the Fryette Power Station be used as a pedal platform on its own?

Just got my BE-OD back today after it'd been out on loan for two weeks. It really makes me feel like I'm 15 again and I can't wait to get home to practice. My '69 Plexi clone is super clean, so this pedal is perfect for it, but I can't even think about using it with my higher gain amps (SLO, 5153 Stealth, modded 1959SLP, Smallbox).

I have '14 BE100, and this pedal makes my 6505+ sound damn close. Using same guitar, cab, etc. Not exact, but it's hard to tell the difference. This is with the gain at 9 0clock on the pedal and internal set at noon, through clean channel of 6505+.

This pedal sounds more like a real amp than any pedal in the history of pedals.

I can't get over how real it sound & feels.

I have no idea how Dave was able to do what no other company could do, but it's game over for all other hot rod plexi pedals.

I A/B'd my BE-OD and Carl Martin Plexitone (V1) into various clean amps and channels and the Plexitone stands up very well. But I still slightly preferred the Friedman... and that's because I've really come to prefer that Friedman sound character. It's kind of like Bogner amps/pedals in having a certain flavor, but maybe slightly more desirable (to me at least).

Hmmm... I just got my older model Dirty Shirley yesterday. But I think I'm going to try running my BE-OD into the FX return on it tonight and see how it might differ from the Shirley's gain. NO doubt there will be a LOT more gain on tap with the pedal. But I did turn the pedal's gain trim pot down to 10:00. I'm not a gain freak and prefer to have some of the guitar's tonal characteristics able to shine through -- which is more difficult to do as things get gainier.

I received an early BE-OD, Loved it. Then got a runt 20 head, thinking I'd return the OD and apply towards the head. When SW called to ask how I liked the head (yes the rep checked in), I asked for a RA on the OD, BUT didn't send it back. I'm not a pedal guy, but the OD is incredible, so I'll keep it and find a use for it. I did find that I could duplicate the pedal with the runt (I had turned the OD trim pot to 9 o'clock). I'm going to play with turning the trim pot up for a super level of gain through the clean channel, and turning it all the way down as a boost for the gain channel. What I'm really curios about is how the BE-OD sounds through a DS mini...

I dunno, but I tried my BE-OD into the low gain input of my older Dirty Shirley 40, with the amp gain set low and it sounded great. Made it a true two channel amp. And frankly, I like it better than the Smallbox that I just traded for it. Having said that... I still prefer the Shirley's gain all by itself. So freakin' smooth and rich. Like expensive chocolate. :D

I am returning my Runt 50 tomorrow in favor of running the BE-OD into my JMP 2203. I am blown away by how good running the BE-OD into the low input of my JMP sounds. I prefer it over the Runt by a pretty large margin.
