You will find the HET's to be a little bit tighter than the 81/60 set and more pronounced mids, less sizzle in the highs. They pair well with Explorer type guitars (and they should).

I'm losing it. More people are saying the Hets are tighter![]()
Maybe my memory is shot! Ill be doing that shootout next week so ill really dive in deep. The EMTY got here today.![]()
See, the compression is what I LOVE about the 81. Whenever I play anything else, I miss that compression.borninwinter":oi6j0f8q said:I find that the Hets have more low end than the 81 and are also less compressed. They can sound pretty much as tight as an 81, but you have to dial back the bass on the amp a bit. In general, I prefer passives, but I like the Hets pretty well too. Not really a fan of the 81, mostly due to the compression. Here's a good comparison vid:

Yep.
It is much easier in my opinion, to deal with a few dozen RT regulars than to take a chance with some random pole smoker on eBay. Most all of the used gear I have is RT bought.
Soon I will just get a multi guitar stand for Steve's hand me downs.![]()
