What if there was a Variable Luxury Tax.
So if youre a team like the Dodgers, Yankees etc etc you get taxed even higher than usual after passing the threshold and the threshold is also lowered from the 244 million now to a lower number for example 220 million or 10%. You keep doing it and spending above the Luxury Tax you get an incremental 3-5%+ lowering of the threshold even further and another 3-5%+ increase in the luxury tax.
This way there is no hard Salary Cap but a more proactive Luxury Tax and kind of makes both sides happy.
Anything before the new CBA is grandfathered in until the contracts expire and anything after applies.
You raise the floor too...... Place more value on bonus contracts vs just spending money upfront. Bonus contracts get a slightly lower tax or whatever makes sense...... You also raise the floor
This just makes a lot more sense than a Salary Cap.

Time to get started with The Kids' Real MLB 2025 Power Rankings ....... starting with my top 3........ Will update as the season approaches or move the list around but in general once it gets going that doesn't happen unless something big changes......

The Kids Real MLB 2025 Top 3 Power Rankings Feb 19th 2025.....
Based off Total Team WAR, Starting Pitching rotations projections and the WAR-Ratio as a baseline along with other factors and considerations for teams with most likelihood and highest likelihood of making postseason for 2025.......
My Rankings are more accurate and to a lower margin of error when it came to my Regular Season and Post Season Power Rankings in the 2023 season vs the "experts"......they actually reflected performance by teams better than MLB/ESPN/Verlander/The-Ringer.... as good as the "experts" in 2024 and I don't have a full department of people and "professionals" or "experts" like Ken Rosenthal running around a floor of 500 people and a nationwide network of hundreds if not thousands of reporters and journalist..........
It's just me, my WAR-Ratio method and other factors and considerations, basic stats available to everyone and a little bit of calculus along with my Ti-84+ calculator.......thats it......you heard it here first.......

Well I called that one ahead of the "experts" too..... And yeah they didn't make Postseason/Playoffs...... Much like the rest of my projections
Which of these top three AL West teams doesn't make postseason...... we've seen how quickly the wheels fall off the bus with the Rangers even with decent numbers and a lot of their numbers that push them over the top are because DeGrom is expected to meet projections, which he hasn't for the past 3+ seasons...... stay healthy..... and become better than ever after injury and injury in the age of the Pitch Clock...... if he gets injured, doesn't perform to expectations or tanks it's hard to see how the Rangers would make postseason IMO.....
The numbers say Rangers are better than Astros too and the Mariners and the "smart money" is going with the Rangers it seems...... just have a hard time seeing how to place that much faith on rolling the dice on DeGrom, don't get me wrong I want to see DeGrom healthy again and kick ass but a lot of their hopes for postseason depends on a 100% healthy DeGrom at his peak and while that may be possible that is a lot of hope and risk in one basket from that perspective IMO.

Dont really regret not making projections this season...... But won't lie if it didn't feel like it was dragging my heart around a bit.......
