Love the volute and maple cap.

Really don’t love that the front binding is only 5 layer and not the standard 7 layer.

Really really don’t love that the wine red model has a 3-piece top.

Most players I know, that has a white Lester Custom had it turned cream even thought it was sitting in the case.
Who knew that would become a positive thing 50 years later.

Wonder what those go for even thought it was the "Norlin"

Cream Norlins are getting very pricy for the Randy Rhoads association.
 
I hate the white(ish) top with black sides. I know they made a few of them back in the day, but they suck too.

I assume they did this as cost cutting (Gibson says white is more expensive for them to do) and/or because they are assholes preserving all white LPCs for the more expensive models.

Definitely think the white exclusion is to reserve it for the Custom shop and/limited runs.

Gibson loves to fuck around that way. The CS finish Dirty Lemon Burst has a dark cherry back. When they do limited runs for USA Standards, they come with a natural back. Always a compromise with them.

Like the SG Junior. The USA model has a totally inaccurate pickguard shape. If you want an accurate version you need to get the CS model. It's not a case of "the CS guitar is built better," it's gatekeeping an aesthetic feature to not cannibalize the CS sales.

Funny thing is, when Japanese retailers get the Dirty Lemon Burst limited runs, they get the red back. I can't say with certainty why that is, but I suspect it has something to do with the high quality Japanese copies being sold alongside the Gibsons in store - Gibson needs to work harder to compete, since they haven't neutered the market. Same reason the MIJ Epiphones always had the Gibby headstock.
 
I usually have black backs on anything that’s not totally black but that white binding really helps set it off. Wine red is pretty sick too. Curious if they did the Adam jones neck profile from the LP’s or went with what’s on the other 70’s models. Maybe those are both the same? I’ve played both at one point but can’t recall.
