The more I play with it the more I dig Amplitube

I don't know how many of the other sims really compare, but this one in particular is pretty great for recording. I won't go so far to say that it's as good as a properly mic'd up amp/cab, but I wouldn't immediately disagree either.

I've been recording cover songs recently and this weekend I finished up one of a Mastodon song. Every guitar and bass tone you hear is from Amplitube (except the acoustic) and at no point am I unhappy with how the guitars sound. Judge for yourself, though. I used Marshall and Recto sims if you're interested.

At some point I'll cover a more effect driven guitar song and really see how good this thing is.

I was pretty shocked at how well the usual suspects sounded with a really good IR. Hit the LePou stuff too; that Lecto is a favorite of mine and sounds fantastic.

Good job on the cover man; sounds awesome!

For some reason the LePou stuff just didn't vibe with me when I used them, even with the Redwirez IRs I have. I didn't try any third party IRs on this song. I'm pretty impressed by the flexibility of the cab sims built in.

Thanks for listening! Much appreciated

I get extra creative when I practice with Amplitube. All those amps and cabs. Then the rack gear and pedals too! Excellent addition to any home rig.
