The best amp I ever played = I really do think you're an idiot for believing I'd sell the best amp I've ever played
Ya, this one definitely deserves kudos. How very VERY true...!!

The 6 months response to this scenario = I should have never sold that amp, so I'll spend the money all over again to get another one and see if I'll be stupid enough to sell it a 2nd (or 3rd time). Spent $2600, sold for $1500, spend another $2800 for new one (damn price increases).

Umm...I've done that..more than once

my tastes have changed = this sounds like ass. i hated it from the beginning.

recently serviced by a qualified tech = amp produces sound

guitar has been used by [famous musician's name here] but I don't have any proof = I found this thing on the street and was hoping to sell it for 5x what they usually go for

the one that always make me laugh the most goes something like this.

1971 Marshall 1959 super lead ALL STOCK, EXCEPT filter caps replaced, PPIMV on the back of the amp.
OT was replaced, and tubes converted to 6550's

yep

Just retubed= After my last of many attempts to like this horrific sounding POS I am hoping I can dump it on someone else and recoup a bit of money I have wasted on it.

Just back from the tech with a clean bill of health= this amp will break within a month.

One of the best playing guitars I've ever had=plays great, sounds terrible.

I can send some more pics when I get home = I hope your really don't want more pics cause it's been beat to death
Or
Sorry for the bad pics I used my cell/old camera = It's really a totally POS

I started a thread about selling phrases = I need to vent because nobody ever buys my stuff.

  j/k, of course.

my contribution:

anything minty = never as delicious as it sounds in the description.

Its just too dark for me= I dont really know what I want

Its just too bright for me = I dont really know what I want.

I dont need the VH sound anymore = I heard Rockstah play it and this amp doesnt sound like the one he was playing.

I hear you on the too dark or too bright. Makes you wonder if they ever heard of an EQ?

Too funny. I've heard that a bunch of times on the Rockstah mods (RIP). I swear I heard him do a clip on an Iphone app and it sounded like Rockstah (true story).

What's even funnier is I've used some of those. Like when I sold an LPC awhile back. That was one sweet guitar though. Damn, you guys got me to thinking about it.....I may have to buy it back for 500 more than I sold it for.

It's already been said above and I'm probably guilty of it on a small level, but I get a laugh when people say their "so and so" amp or whatever piece of PRODUCTION gear they're selling sounds "better than any other they've ever heard" or "the best one I've had" (but I still own a couple other ones...LOL) Like they just happened to stumble upon the one magic dual rectifier that sounds absolutely amazing and it's the holy grail. But of course then they sell it because it's just too awesome for them to handle. ;)

Agreed! I've bought so many pedals that were claimed to be mint, but were clearly worn and used. Mint means that it's in new condition IMO!

(Insert name here) Amp for sale. No trades as I need to fill up my Gil Yaron Ultimate 59 Burst Replica Relief Fund :D

Which will be for sale 3 weeks after I get it.

Sorry Bro, cheap shot. I'm just jealous of all the great gear ya go through :D

"Slightly modded" = I tried to mod it myself and it now looks like a abortion performed by a soldering iron inside.

"I've got 2 of these, bought this one as a backup" = I fucked this one up somehow so I bought another one to replace it.

New tubes with only a few hours on them...
...Never changed the tubes, so these ones are shot. Why would I spend good money on new tubes and then give them away with a sale? Duh!

Pedal new in the box...
...took it out, put all the knobs @ 12 o'clock, didn't sound anything like Zakk on that live video, so back in the box it went. Next.

Very rare guitar...
... so fooking rare that you've never heard of it, reason being it's ugly and the spec makes no sense so no-one went near it. Don't go near it now.

Exotic wood one-off...
....looks like a coffee table. sounds like a coffee table.

Got 2 of these amps, don't need them both...
...this is the one in the worst shape, and now I've mentioned it you're only interested in the other one. I've never won salesman of the year.

My all time favorite

"i love this (insert amp, guitar, etc.), it's best i have ever owned, and will definitely own one again someday" =

"Now that i got to show everyone on the forums that I spent a boatlaod of money on the latest and greatest, I realize what already owned is just as good and I gotta get the funds up for the next Namm show favorite"

Consider yourself cut off...

This is such an odd thread for RT since pretty much everyone here uses these phrases. I would imagine that most of you are honest when doing so. I know I use some of them and have been honest when doing so...such as need cash but will accept some trades. I lost my job and need cash but will sometimes need to accept a partial trade to stimulate a deal. I also just had to sell some stuff to pay a partial vet bill for my cat (which wasn't even posted.) I think it is pretty hilarious to see this tread here of all places. I guess I should rethink my original assessment.

its not odd ..I know that certain people when they say one of these phrases I beleive it. SOme guys who use the same phrase I would not beleive... So whats your original assessment , If I might ask? (it sounded slightly pompous)
