Whats the deal on em? I remember when they first came out quite a few guys got them. Then I seen them in the classifieds within 2 weeks? They terrible?
They sorta sound like a Mesa to me from the clips. But little better.
But the clips I have heard they all sound good. Was just wondering what the verdict is from those who owned or played one?

I have yet to hear a clip or vid I didn't think sounded great. Seems like a good value for an American made amp. I think maybe for the money, people are just more familiar with Mesa/Marshall. Doesn't seem PRS had a super comprehensive marketing plan for the amp.

For sure man...seems like this amp just appeared one day.
Was just wondering why they seemed to be dumped very quickly. I remember at least 2 on here that were flipped within a matter of weeks. :dunno:

I dunno man, they had a few players 'touting' them. There was a buzz going on like a year or so, but you guys are right-they got flipped fairly quick. I actually like the way they sound (at least the clips I've seen/heard). I'd own one.

The build quality looks pretty damn amazing too if you've seen the gut shots on their site or the PRS forum.

I'd like to try one out in person but can't seem to find a dealer close by who has one....and I'm only an hour from the PRS factory.

Because I own a nice PRS guitar I really wanted to like the amp, but I couldn't..... :aww:

I have some pretty decent sounding Kemper profiles of the Archon. I'm sure I could put the actual amp to good use.

I love mine. Enough that I bought a 2nd to keep at home(and have a backup). It's my main amp. Cheap on the used market.

clips are hit n miss but the biggest problem is they have horrible distribution on this amp.IMO
Its available online and only some of the platinum GC stores. a lot of PRS dealers don't carry em its much easier to get a se 30 50 than the archon

Yeah the clips I see it seems to go from really killer tone....to fuzzy not so great.
From the clips where its dialed in good....man....sounds awesome. Gonna see tomorrow for myself.

Great amp, I've had mine since they were released. The gain structure is great for modern tones.

Cool.....I loved it from the minute I saw the tremonti demo clip. Really sounded great from that.
I was just surprised why lot of guys sold them off so fast.

I had one of the first ones. The tones were good but I had a big issue with the loop on mine, very noisy even when it was merely just jumpered with nothing in it. Sent it back to the factory and they supposedly fixed it, but the issue was still there. It was just very sensitive to different levels of pedals and rack units no matter what I tried. Even with using an ISP G system it wasn't usable even on the clean channel with the loop engaged. I eventually flipped it.

Always wanted to try one

To me it sounds like a modded recto.

Pulled it out the box...Plugged in and it was ripping.
nice chunk. Great tone. Then I started to do a/b tests with the diezel vh4s. After about 15 passes from each amp...to me and the other 4 guys In the room. ..
archon sounded like the diezel vh4 channel 3. Cept little weaker. But damn near identical in tone when dialed in.
So it's going back. But man it's a freaking bad ass for sure

The fact that its half the price isn't enough to make you keep it huh? Just curious....
