Why are there no computer makers in Chicago or Milwaukee? or Kentucky, Ohio, South Carolina...

Dell is a Texas company as much as Apple is a California one. HP now functions as an Israeli company in the occupied West Bank, was founded in Palo Alto, and made its bones selling (rig-gear) audio oscillators with a light bulb resistor to Walt DIsney . All-American.
I recognized that you weren't making an exclusive claim.

reiterating, I wasn't clear this was looking for a reply, Microsoft has likely generated more wealth for more Americans than any other company in the World, is there anything more American than that?

Apple has possiby generated more wealth for Chinese than anyone other than Google. I have no numbers to back this assertion.
