I have had this rig (used to be an Intellifex before the GM2) since the mid 90s and used it for at least a couple hundred shows. Always loved it but went back to heads a few years ago. Well, I decided to dig it out and rebuild it and wow, it sounds fucking killer.

All new tubes everywhere. TAD 6L6GCs in the 9200, JJ ECC83s in the pre (I always thought they sounded best in JMP1s). Biased the TADs to 40mA at 485 B+ VDC. This is a beast. Kickass hi gain and super chimey cleans. I am going to use it for a gig I have Friday.

I only have side A of the amp running right now because I lost a fuse cap for side B some time ago and apparently never replaced it. However, I used the other side of the power amp's fuses and fuse caps and biased it up and tested it and it is good to go. Have a new fuse cap already on the way for it so I will pop that in when it gets here and then 200 watts of Marshall badassness will be unleashed.

Here is a quick rhythm clip...

I had a similiar rig except I had the EL34 100/100 and an Intellifex Online. Killer Rig!

Wish I still had mine.......... :(

Cool rig. A buddy of mine in CO has a similar rig but with the Marshall effects unit (can't remember what it was called...looked like the preamp)...he has one of the best live tones I've heard.

I used an Intellifex Online for 10 years but it died on me a couple years ago. Got the GM2 and am much happier (almost no tone coloration whereas the Intellifex colored it heavily) so it was a blessing in disguise I guess.

The JFX-1. Never used one of those but I heard they were pretty cool.

Sweet! Must be some serious nostalgia :D

BTW, STFU

Yup, it is a bit nostalgic. I used the JMP-1 through a 2:90 for a while in the early '00s til around '05 or so, so it hasn't been that long.

STFU is my super tight noise gate hi gain rhythm channel.

Awesome rig!

I just got a 9200 that I'm using with an Eleven Rack but have major GAS for a JMP-1. I have been trying to decide on which tubes to replace my power tubes with and glad to hear good things about the TAD's in the 9200.

My back hurts just looking at that.

It's not too bad. My '73 Marshall is almost as heavy! :D

I'll tell you though, that power amp is worth every pound it weighs. Built like a tank, too. I have put it through its paces and it has never let me down.

Heavy tone requires heavy gear :D Looks awesome! I am in the process of building my rack and it is almost finished, I can't wait until it is finished!

That thing looks like it smokes, I'm really into those 9200's but can't commit to all the other fee's lol

There isn't a thing wrong with a JMP-1 rig. Those things get all Marshall, from A-Z. The signal path routing for FX and assigning programs is so idiot proof that I could do it.

I have a similar old rig, but instead of the EL34 100/100 I use the single rack space EL84 20/20. Plenty loud, plenty of tone (you know how Race loves his EL84 grease) and easy on the back.
