The one thing ive learned about tube amps is the clean channel is the platform for tone if its clean enough.
Clean for DAYS is the Fender Twin reverb, and now THE REBEL 30 ch. 1 which is priceless to me.
The 1st Channel clean is my multi-channel pedal platform for different pedals and different tones.

More than impressed by Modest Mikes ProCo rat PEDAL ,whoa are you kidding ,yep marschall in a box is a good description.Ch 1.

My Blues Rock is the tone from a T-Rex Alberta Stupid deal of today was $99 i had too get that baby,it retains the bottom like no tube screamer can , the mids grow as the gain goes up. CH 1. ALSO

The shimmering sounding Way Huge Green Rhino OD pedal is the best tone for chords ive ever heard on a pedal , beautiful tones !
Nice bass control does the most turning, sounds good thruout settings. Channel 1

I retubed as V1 nos mullard 12ax7 - V2 genelex 12ax7 V3 RI tungsol ecc803s goldpin- V4 genelex 12ax7 PI electro-harmonix 12at7 or more bass a sovtek 12ax7 long plate . The Stellar phase inverter by EH 12at7 was tested by Andrews amps and it beat old and new tubes by a bunch, the sovtek long plate 12ax7 is fabulous but to big on the bottom for my cabinet and speakers WIZARD and TONKER.

Tungsol 6v6gt power tubes and a pair of RI mullard el-84.

I dont do metal, im blues and rock blues and bottle slide plus some rock & roll and throw in some jazz blues classic stuff.
I hate to label stuff, its subjective to try.
I HAVE MORE DAMN FUN GETTING a SOUND its rediculous because i can find it, and i do it between a Weber mini mass 50 attenuator and the pedals and tubes and tweaking the EQ so so and keeping close to unity gain or a tad higher.

My clean channel is my tone channel, some folks limit themselves by only turning knobs and theres only 3 and 2 EQ switches and they dont know to voice the channel as you would like it to be with preamps.
Right now im considering Putting a 12au7 in V1 on my REBEL 20 amp head and perhaps turn the gain way up and put the T-REX ALBERTA OD on it and see if i get enough gain for power tube breakup.

I think Both REBEL 20-30 are great gigging and definnitly studio recording platforms !
Night after night for a year the rebel 30 or 20 amps show no amp problems im glad to say.
Bruce must have been a early adopter of the lower wattage amps as the realization that you cant cut up a 50 watt orange amp to get the sweet spot , too damn loud.
Well done Bruce, the strong transformers are not wimps , very strong power section and luv the bias.

12ax7 preamp distortion is a harsh sound or gain up to a loud hiss to smooth out some but to tell the truth you can mold a good clean channel into what you want or need!

Does a 12au7 work to clean up the Rebel 20 when gained up ?
I must try that and post the results .
The rebel 20 is made to crank or go low practice with i think.
Its a fierse gain crunch with my Les Paul, but i luv the Mean 90 pups on a schecter solo 6 LE
Hint-screaming lead and sustain tone , add the R-20 + fulltone GT-500 pedal and back up some.
You will find a adrenil rush like i did and frankly alter my perceptions after i came down i noticed !

Imagine yourself on stage cranking leads that hold on bends tell they cry like i did,it was a experience i can tell ya.
Actually ive never heard a 20 watt amp that loud with that much gain before, its a humbling experience.
If i try the ProCo modded rat on it i might be one blinking light away from a schiztoid embolism .!!!
Im sure others have found nirvana, if not I would listen to you tube demos on these pedal preamps.

A Mad professor Golden Cello with built in delay is a awesome sound, but maybe to smooth for me.
Anyway i want to aknowledge the Rebel Series amps for tone factory platform availible for recording and gigging, the effects loop is a frieking good bonus !
I would like to mod the tone capacitors from the orange drop to a more detailed type that really smooths the highs like jupiter capacitors or aura caps but im not sure i can get to the board without major deconstrution however.

You folks have any ideas im enterested so just throw it out there.
I MUST BE nutty but i use the DI out to a Moen Buffolo headphone amp late nights pedal , it has para EQ on it too ,that cheap pedal sounds best with grado with 50mm driver headphones.

I use a variac at 113vac just letting the amp go easy , my voltage at 2am is 127vdc and thermoic tubes were designed for much less !
Any thoughts on the 12at7 phase inverter please do post , i noticed when going up in volume a increase in huge bottom notes which covered up the other notes and going from a sovtek 12ax7 long plate PI tube to the EH 12at7 tightened up the bottom without suffering any loss of tonal quality.
I have a 2x12" open back cabinet so bass is plentiful .
I think i had a Eureke moment with buying the EH 12at7 , Most EH 12ax7 tubes seem to be not a big favorite and as a tone generator a 12at7 admittedly isnt very good, but in the PI it passes along a big gained up signal and sounds juicey and crunchy like before but no boom boom lows.

If i dropped the overall gain a bit it didnt notice,it is a loud badazz at volume 5 !
There you will be a big difference in many things-first you will hear the preamp watts knob is like a volume level attack intensity control.
Your delay level needs to be lower than before- like i said i notice bottom end becomming cavernous.
Well things become obvious so tweak away.

I tried cutting the bass with the switch and my EQ pedal but it somehow wasnt perfect so i tried cutting the bottom at the last tube the PI tube.
It retained all the harmonics in the preamp tubes except now the tight harmonic bass is there .
There is no question the tube bias for these different tubes are a factor, only Bruce would have clue on it.

I say if it holds up im ok.
Those bassman like lows are so solid its awesome.

I have a sencor tube tester so we will see after awhile.
Rock on to you 6 million north american guitarist I salute you and your dreams , ;) and wish you well in your tone quest !!!!!!
