they were the first (industrial metal) and imo still best

Love every band mentioned in this thread but props Reza. FF was my #1 favorite band in high school and probably my biggest influence musically and is the band responsible for opening doors for me to things other than metal. I had a different FF shirt for every day of the week in high school. Hung out with Dino 2 days in a row when they played my hometown my junior year on the Obsolete tour. Met him at the mall and we went around town. Went to the guitar store and he showed me how to play a bunch of different FF riffs. The Demanufacture tone is what I've been after my whole life.

Never really got into Fear Factory.
You'll dig Godflesh if your into FF.

These guys pioneered industrial metal imo.

I think Obsolete is their best record AND best song!
the chorus that kicks in at 1:56 is just badass.
Agreed, always loved that song as well. Demanufacture will always be my favorite album. Zero Signal is my jam. I think everything they've done recently since Dino has been back in the band had been gold. Right up there with the classics. Genius band.

Rez, you made the post about the new Car Bomb a few weeks ago. That's probably my favorite album of 2016. Such a cool sounding band. The downward bends on the 2nd song with that weird effect. I love it. You seem to have great taste in music.

Dude!!!

That Car Bomb record is amazing. It's the only thing I have been listening for weeks.
Same here! Can't stop.

Nice!
Some of the darkest, heaviest stuff I heard was on the streetcleaner record.

Ministry, Godflesh (an original guitarist of Napalm Death, btw), Skinny Puppy, all superior to Fear Factory. FF had a couple great albums but they were certainly not the first industrial band. Glad to see this was already set straight and to see so much Godflesh appreciation here.

if i had a right hand like dino-i would never leave the house.....

Just seen fear factory last year. Outdoor even. Super loud and crisp.
Those guys were spot on.
Not sure what Dino was playing thru.

Dino has been using a Kemper direct for the last few years.

Skinny Puppy was doing their thing back in the Vampire Sex Club days of Toronto.

I was blasting some KMFDM just a couple days ago while driving around. Love industrial.

When I hear the term Industrial, immediately I think "Ministry". When I see the name Fear Factory, I think nu metal.

I liked FF for a minute in the 90's but it got old fast. Dig Burton's voice a lot. I can still listen to Plastic Planet on a regular basis. He was a great pairing with Geezer on that one. Plus Castronovo's drumming is off the chain.....for a pervert... :(

I said Industrial "METAL" because I know there were industrial bands before FF.
Those bands were industrial metal. Fear Factory are a metal band that only get lumped into industrial due to their use of electronic elements in the drums. Fear Factory is cool, but calling them industrial metal is and has always been a stretch, a claim by people outside of the industrial scene simply because Fear Factory was a metal band that did something slightly different. But, w/e, splitting hairs here, even if I accept the label of industrial metal for FF they still wouldn't be the first "industrial metal" band.

"The missing" is metal to me off of lorah. Check out this band from Austin back in the day. Skrew burning in water drowning in flames. Good shit.

Demanufacture (1995) was a great album

Meshuggah always was a much superior band, though
Destroy Erase Improve (1995) was the true masterpiece from that year and was completely ignored by metalheads until the late 2000's
