Thinking of selling everything and getting a Kemper...

I kid you not.. :)
I rarely play a "real" amp these days. I bought an Apogee Jam/Amp Kit and a cheapie iPhone and believe it or not, that's what I use most of the time. It's not that it sounds better than the real deal it's just easy to sit there on the couch and play.

So that got me thinking, I mostly record... why do I need all this stuff?

Am I nuts?

I don't know that I'd sell everything, but the Kemper is amazing. I play mine more than anything else right now, but still have a pair of amps that I use as well.

I just bought one from Brad and used it at a show this past Saturday for the first time. It was pretty nice. Very easy to tweak!
I am going to sell of some stuff soon, but I am going to keep a couple of tube rigs around as well for the hell of it.

I'd love to go the same route, however, when I try out a software amp emulator I'm always disappointed. I'd love to be able to NOT have to bother with loud amps and putzing around with mic placement. But, I sure do like the tones from my amps. :D

I wouldn't sell everything. But having the Kemper and a couple of your fav amps around will keep you quite happy for a long time

I sold 90% of everything I had and got a Kemper. Everyday that passes only reinforces the fact that I made a great decision. I havent had a single second of regret.

I have owned nothing but tube amps since 1988, Boogies, Diezel's and Bogners. I am not disappointed at all with the Kemper!

You know what? I just want to record a good guitar tone these days. All the mic placement and acoustics shit is just a distraction from playing/creating music. I'd rather worry about music and playing.

I did that with the Axe FX II and regretted it.
That's why I don't want the Axe FX... LOL! :D
The clips have been ok. Nothing special

The clips sound great from both units, IMO. But the Axe FX's downfall is all the tweaking. I've heard the Kemper is less fidgety though... haven't even seen one in person myself.

Yeah when I heard the comparison between the Axe FX and the real deal, they were pretty darn close. I could hear a difference, but it was pretty impressive at the time (this was a few years ago).

The Kemper seems like the 'next generation' of modeling to me. I'm also feeling like rebooting my whole rig... LOL! :D
I feel like my focus has changed.

Get the Kemper, profile all your amps, then sell all but 1. Always nice to have a tube amp in the stable.

I know how you feel. Yesterday I finally got a chance to jam because I woke up early, but the 5mo./2yr/5yr old kids were asleep, and so was the wife. So I spent time futzing first with my Apogee and iPad, then moved on to my POD HD500. None of which necessarily replaces my amp, but damn it was fun getting good tones out of a tablet.

I have a Kemper incoming soon. I've kept one amp that I can still use live if I need to. However, that being said, I hope it sounds as good to my ears as what I have been hearing. If it does, then I'll be set for some time! Love the concept around the Kemper and the feature set on it.

Can't wait!

:)

I wonder if the Kemper's more user-friendly than the Axe. I deal with enough complexity at work, I don't need it for jamming.

Sounds like for what you use and play....the Kemper would be a winner for sure.

I don't know about the axe but the Kemper is VERY easy to tweak. I did not read the manual more than 5 minutes and I was pretty comfortable with the Kemper.

I remember hearing the same thing when the AxeFx came on the scene and after owning one and giggin with it for almost 2 years, I went back to using Amps and am alot happier. If you were asking this in regards to the AxeFx, Id tell you to think long and hard about it and see if you could do some kind of extended comparo...

However, this Kemper seems to be a different thing all together and has my curiosity piqued as well , BIG time... At home I dont play through amps, Im more than content to use my UX2 Toneport. Im not gigging at the moment either but I do plan on getting back into it and while I love using amps, The Kemper sounds like a really viable way to go as well...

Personally, I dont plan on dumping any amps. Im really content with what I have but adding a Kemper sounds like a very bitching thing to do...

Do it. The Kemper is everything people wish the Axe was but isn't. It is the game changer people are waiting for.

[edit] a small Kemper clip,

Just a 1977 JMP profile into a V30 using my JJ1 guitar with JB pickup. Plug n play!
