I have a rare V that I don't play anymore. It's and Ibanez V-Blade VBT700 that I acquired in a trade a ways back. I flipped so much gear (I think there was a Bugera head in there somewhere) that I'm sure I broke even, if not made money on the deal. It doesn't owe me anything really, but I held onto it as a collector's piece.

They only made the V-Blade in 2007 and discontinued it the following year. It was supposed to be the signature guitar for Sam Toteman of Dragonforce, but Ibanez got a cease and desist letter from Dean over the body style being a copy of the Michael Ammot Tyrant body style. Both Vs have the same shape at the points. Ibanez doesn't fuck with lawsuits, so they sold them out and discontinued them.

I upgraded the pickups from the D'Activators to a Dimarzio Breed set in Zebra and put a Freeway 3x3 six way switch in it for coil splitting. I only ever played a show or two with it. I love it, but it just sits in it's case. I got it set up in standard C with the rest of my guitars, but the band I'm doing isn't a "V" kinda band.

The debate is this:
Do I keep it and let it continue to appreciate in value, or do I sell it off? Right now, they're catching about $1100-$1300, but mine has upgrades and the OHSC. I can't play it at home when I lounge, and I don't play it in my band. I don't need the money, but it deserves to be played. Should I keep it or sell it?

That is a cool V that hits a lot of nostalgia boxes. No doubt it would sell in no time, but would you miss it? Do you have another V at all? If you dont need the cash, with such a cool guitar, hard for me to say to sell it. I do hate to see a killer guitar just sitting unplayed though and wanted one of these when I was a teen. Not a huge DF fan but was a massive Ibanez fan and still dig the look. I am crazy broke for the foreseeable future or I'd say sell it and make an offer lol

That looks like a cool guitar to have, so if you don't need the money, don't sell. If you think that it's sale could let you acquire something that you want, then it's an easy choice.

I wouldn't think too much about appreciation unless it really was a classic guitar that people are looking out for. My guess is that not too many people know about it, so it may not appreciate like other rare guitars.

Also worth noting that it's not a Prestige model, so there may be a ceiling price that you are able to sell at.

Definately cool and likely an easy sale. It likely doesn't cost you anything to keep it if you are 50/50. You may get the bug again, or there might be something you really want and could sell down the road or trade.

Hell, every time I see one being sold I want to kick myself in the ass for selling it years ago to a douche no less!

I would keep it, because this is one of the guitars on my "wish list" that is impossible to find for a reasonable price

When I got my third Jarrett earlier this year, I went through all my guitars and gave them all a refresh. After I set the V up in standard C and made all the adjustments, that guitar sounded better than the rest. Those Breed pickups are legit. I thought about swapping them into a guitar I play on the regular.

I've just been digging those Jarretts lately. That stupid Ibiza is the only guitar I play anymore. I played a pair of Knaggs over the weekend and fell in love with them, but went home to my Ibiza and decided I didn't need them.

If you really don't play it and the funds could go to something you want more then I'd say sell it.

If you want to keep it as an investment then keep it as long as the market doesn't deflate further..
