...but gave up?

Cause the douch nozzle is too short. The stage crew always used to complain that they had to keep a shit load of kick-drum mic stands on hand for his vocal mic front stage.

Yet more wisdom from King Douchebag.

I asked Viv about his "employment" with RJD while at a guitar clinic. He told me that RJD got pissed-off about Viv starting his side project: Trinity. He said that RJD refused to let him take the stage with a Strat that had the Trinity logo on it... He then quit Dio. He also said that Ozzy doesn't write his own lyrics... He said that Sharon purchases them!

Speaking of musicians with an attitude... A friend of mine was a roadie for Aerosmith back in the 70's. He said that Aerosmith treated the roadies and production staff like total shit! One of Aerosmith's culinary delights was having a freshly baked turkey ready to eat after every show. While the band was on-stage, the roadies (and production staff) would pull out their cock and balls, crouch down over the turkey, and then rub their genitalia all over the turkey!

Life is grand!

Quitting a band like DIO because you couldn't have a sticker on your guitar is a little irrational, but I believe RJD always had full control of the stage and props. Good example would be the tour with Adrich, where the backline was a 3~4 full Marshall stacks which were just stage props. I imagine Ronnie has a fairly detailed contract that you sign when you join his band.

by the way...whatever happened to Rowan Robertson??

I would think it had more to do with the concept of Christianity than it did with the name of the band. After all, doesn't the DIO logo spell "Devil" when you turn it upside down? I'm no expert on the occult, but I'm quite sure this was no accident... :scared:

Cool avatar... MS rules!!!

There is a video out there of someone asking Ronnie about Vivian and Ronnie says "I hope he dies". Kind of ironic now that Ronnies dead. Vivian chose a cushy job in Def Leppard over the life of a gunslinging shredder, thats all.

Did he say "I hope he fucking dies"? I guess that backfired!

Can't say I blame Dio for not letting Viv take the stage w/ a guitar that has his other bands logo on it. When you think about it it's actually a dickish thing to do. I'm all about supporting local acts in my area, but if one of the guys my band had a side project and tried to advertise during one of our gigs it wouldn't go over well... at all.

Theirs alot of he said she said between Viv and Dio, but lets look at it for what it is. Dio rocked his ass off and sang balls out throughout his whole career. The man was passionate about metal and rocked his ass off. Viv mesmerized us for a bit, than we hear he wasn't really into the metal thing and joins Def Lep as the rhythm guitarist. End of story.

I talked with Viv for about a half-hour, and he's a really cool guy. He even showed me a couple of tricks that he copped from Gary Moore! If it's a question of "Englishman" vs "Irishman"? The Lord loves a drunk! :cheers2:

It's possible that Viv does have a bit of "asshole" in him... So what! At least he's not a foul-mouth, devil worshipping prickster like RJD was. Key word he being "WAS"!

I think it really boiled down to Viv just didn't like metal once he got older... Theres really nothing wrong with that and he has never made any type of move to try to recapture his metal past. I think that says it all...

Maybe he was hired as a fill-in after Clark died, and discovered that he was comfortable in the group? The enormous ego of RJD is legendary! Not that he didn't have the "pipes" to warrant such an ego. The only guys that could touch him (back in the day) was Ian Gillan, and Robert Plant.

I loved "On through The Night" and "High And Dry". "Pyromania" is Pop Music garbage IMO! Did Def Leppard play the backing tracks for Shania Twain?  A perfect example of what happens when you record tracks with a Rockman X100... :bleh: At least Goerge Lynch had ear enough to run his 2 x X100's into the "return" loop of 2 x 100 watt JCM800 for the "Under Lock And Key" recordings. IMO it still had that "too compressed" feel though...

No, Viv isn't playing to his full potential with DL - but it beats the hell out of a "9 to 5"!
