Thoughts on the new AIC?

Count me in with the guys who think it's good, but over-harmonized in the vocal area! I find 1/3 of the album awesome, 1/3 decent, and 1/3 "meh." My fav tracks are Phantom Limb, Hollow, Voices, and Choke. Tones are great throughout the album, one thing Jerry has nailed for sure!

I am a huge AIC fan and have been since Facelift and I thought BGWTB was awesome, but I just cannot seem to get into this.

This one is good, but there's nothing that really reaches out and grabs me - monster tone, huge sound, great harmonies, but leaves me a little cold.

I understand that JC has always been the major force behind the writing, but yeah...it sounds like more D-Trip style material. Sonically amazing, but I'm not feeling the hook they used to have. I have to agree that JC seems to be taking more of a frontman stance than the frontman. I'd like to see William given more of a chance to be a frontman, as I think he's pretty damn good in that role.

That said, I'd never pass on anything AIC, and this is no exception. Just don't expect old school.

Little over a month has passed since I got the new AIC. The more I listen to it, the more I find myself liking it. AIC never clubs you over the head with it. You have to find it.

Thinking back, that has been the case with nearly ever new cd they've put out. Even "Dirt". The change enough with each album that it takes me a little time to sort it out. Every one of them ends up being special in its own way.

Very true Chris. I listened to it a ton for a couple weeks and then lost a bit of interest. I'll have to go back now and spin it some more. Shouldn't be hard, I'm gassing for Friedman amps right now.

I like it all. The new stuff slams down a great heavy groove. My daughter likes this new band Alice in Chains. I guess she can't remember listening to it years ago....

Rooster and Man in The Box are timeless classics. Not sure any band can be expected to follow those up with something better. BGWTB came out with a different dark vibe and was a great follow up. Some great songs way beyond a riff and a few verses on getting wasted.

I felt the same way when it came out, i thought it was good, just not overwhelmingly so, but now a couple of months later it's really growing on me - definitely a sleeper album
