I have been hearing some good things about this amp, but have not had a chance to check it out in person yet.

For those of you who have actually played one, what do you think about it?

Can it bring the brootz  :D ?

When I do get a chance to play one, is there anythign I should know about it (secret functions, tendency to be bassy or trebly, etc?)

Price looks to be very nice....I am actually thinking of ordering one from one of the big houses with a return policy, so I can check it out in my environment.

Thanks!

Tony,

I owned one for about a month or so.
It was fun to play at first but got old pretty fast.
It just sounded like an expensive Foot pedal processor.
Even though it was tube.....
was very processed sounding.
Fun to toy around with but for that was about it.
Everyone in my band and that heard thought the same.
Good 1st impression but honeymoon was over very quickly........
But it did have a couple of good channels on it.
Some good heavy ones. But to me not worth the price.
Just get a effect processor and plug in front of the amp.
Just my 2 cents on when I owned one.
Dan

I was down here in Knoxville for my sister in law's wedding reception and had time to kill and went over to the local GC....... played the Egnater Renegade which I hadn't tried yet and played the Spider Valve Mk2 1x12 like the one I have on loan at home. I liked the SV better. I've come to the conclusion I like fake tone that doenst live up and gets old quick. :D

I still want to try a Mesa Electrodyne.

i have an SV 1x12 and use it for gigs frequently, easy to get happening tones from it and the few effects i use they are good enough for my needs.

Screw it....I ordered one from musiciansfriend to check it out myself. If I don't like it, I am just out return shipping.

Check out those Savage presets. :D

Really? You made factory presets for this thing? That is very cool.

Yeah, there's a bank of high gain presets I did.

I actually think it's a pretty cool amp, and a step above the first version SV.

Cool

The last Line 6 product I liked (and still do) is the HD147. Didn't even try the first version of the Spider Valve, but, for some reason, the MK II has my interest.

We shall see......

What changed on the MK II? My big gripe about the original SV was that the effects tweakability was damn near nil.

That was one of the big changes.... effects are much more tweakable and there are more effects. Still not ton of effects but more and better control. As for sound of the amp models you'd just have to judge for yourself. But don't go by the clips on line because IMHO they suck and if my buddy from the store hadn't offered me the opportunity to take it home and mess with it in my environment I would have never given it a chance.

I think my ear has been dumbed down or something because I would have never thought I would like this amp. :D

This is exactly why I decided to order one instead of going to GC and jamming on it. I never know if I will like something until I plug it into my gear (speakers/guitars, etc).

FWIW, my expectations are not through the roof, btu a simple, plug and play modeler that sounds good does have apeal for me.

Still love my Axes though

Yeah the AxeFX is very cool. I'm just to ADD to have a unit like that. I want a variety sounds but need simple controls that will get me there. The SV MkII is working for me right now

I got my MKII yesterday.

Have had a chance to play through it for maybe 4 hours.

This thing sounds damn good....better than I was expecting.

The presets are pretty much shit, but I was expecting that.

Need to spend some more time with it, but I am very impressed so far.

 I think this will be a sleeper for awhile due to who makes it and the digital stigma. I played mine for few hours last night and had a blast. I think it's very cool as well. So were you able to get the metal tones you were looking for? I don't play higher gain metal so I didn't know if it would give you what you were looking for.

The thing that impressed me was the crunch tones which I find the hardest thing for digital to do well. The Class A model which is the /13 is one of the best clean tones I've heard.

I liked mine alot for the 1st few weeks....
Like the Pink Floyd Presets.
Had fun with it.
Let us know how you like it.
My honeymoon was about 3 weeks with the amp.
I have had shorter Honeymoons with more expensive amps believe me!
