Tightest Speaker

What do you guys think is the tightest sounding speaker out there? I'm not as experienced with speakers as I should be but so far I'd say the EV's I've tried seem quite tight but too sterile and smooth for my taste. By celestion I found the t75's and k100's quite tight but not sure which would be tighter without a side by side comparison. Also, which celestion would be the tightest model? The h75 creamback seems quite tight in the clip, but I never heard any creambacks in person, but they seem to have a lot of qualities I like based on clips

Sharon Murphy. She was a motivational speaker I banged in San Antonio in the mid 80's. Had to use extra lube.

I would think the EVs I had back in the day were the tightest. I know they NEVER felt loose, even at crazy high volumes.

I would say check out the Celestion Redback then, i would imagine it's tighter than the H75 but I haven't read the tonal description. It's on par with the EV12M and has the power rating of their old Sidewinder 150 watt speaker they made briefly in the 80's.

For a EVM12L reference listen to old Jake E Lee and Zakk Wylde with Ozzy all those speaker were EVM12L's. I've tired them and didn't care for them maybe the Redback is more your speed.

There were some Redback clips on here recently and it sounded like a great chugga chugga speaker with some celestion attributes.

I have g12h30 70th anniv's and they are pretty tight, but also articulate with great definition.

It's hard to tell from those videos, but I saw another on YouTube where they had direct comparisons with a redback, k100, v30, m65 creamback, h75 creamback and maybe some others and to my ears the h75 actually seemed the tightest and my favorite of the ones in that clip, even for cleans and leads. The redback seems too dark and the k100's seem hollow or distant sounding. I'm surprised that I seem to consistently like both creambacks a lot (m65 and h75) in all the clips I've heard. I like the h75 a bit better I think though. I like my v30 and t75 combo in my ubercab, but I wonder if maybe a v30 and h75 combo would be just what I'd want

V30s. Even with an amp they don't gel with, like a 2203, they will always seem tight as hell to me.

I've always felt that speakers that like big cleans tend to be tighter/stiffer. K100, fanes, Jensen blackbird (I think?) would be where I start. I have k100 in a Marshall straight cab that are tight/stiff but sound good with the right setup.

I didn't know Jensen made high powered speakers. Never heard anyone mention them before. I wonder how those would compare to higher powered celestion and the others

I would ask, at what volumes? In what cab?

I've had good luck with T75's, K100's, V30's, and Swamp Thangs. Depends on the amp/cab.

Sometimes a flabby amp is a flabby amp. I find, more than not, a good EQ in a good FX loop does wonders!

I’ve got a FL UberKab with the V30/GT75 combo and a Wizard 4X12 with the V30/H75 combo... and the UberKab is tighter... not sure how much this is due to the cab/speaker mounting differences. The H75 is like a high powered M25... it’s got a more sweeter vintage breakup and coloration to it... but handles a lot more power to get there. My FL Diezel 4X12 is probably the tightest sounding cab construction wise... speaker choice notwithstanding.

Does your Diezel 412 have k100's in it?

After my research into Creamback here's how they seem to be categorized...

Creamback M65 = a Higher powered Greenback M25

Creamback H75 = a Higher powered H-30(like a blackback H-30)

No... all V30s. Not a fan of K100s. I’ve tried them with all 4 in a 4X12 and mixed with 2 V30s. Too dull and flat sounding.

https://www.jensentone.com/jet_series That's the link to their high power speakers. There's sound clips too. i like them, but they aren't for everyone.

I had a Jensen blackbird for a while, and some if the electric lightening speakers as well. The electric lightening is a killer rock and metal speaker. I’m thinking about getting another one for my Archon combo. The blackbird being an alnico speaker is a bit softer more compressed but still great.

The Creamback H75 is plenty tight in the bottom end. It's my go to speaker right now for all of my amps.
