Here's the thread with clips CreambackH75 versus the Redback.

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=189551&hilit=redback
It's hard to tell from those videos, but I saw another on YouTube where they had direct comparisons with a redback, k100, v30, m65 creamback, h75 creamback and maybe some others and to my ears the h75 actually seemed the tightest and my favorite of the ones in that clip, even for cleans and leads. The redback seems too dark and the k100's seem hollow or distant sounding. I'm surprised that I seem to consistently like both creambacks a lot (m65 and h75) in all the clips I've heard. I like the h75 a bit better I think though. I like my v30 and t75 combo in my ubercab, but I wonder if maybe a v30 and h75 combo would be just what I'd want

I’ve got a FL UberKab with the V30/GT75 combo and a Wizard 4X12 with the V30/H75 combo... and the UberKab is tighter... not sure how much this is due to the cab/speaker mounting differences. The H75 is like a high powered M25... it’s got a more sweeter vintage breakup and coloration to it... but handles a lot more power to get there. My FL Diezel 4X12 is probably the tightest sounding cab construction wise... speaker choice notwithstanding.
Does your Diezel 412 have k100's in it?

No... all V30s. Not a fan of K100s. I’ve tried them with all 4 in a 4X12 and mixed with 2 V30s. Too dull and flat sounding.
How's the Diezel cab with v30's compare to the ubercab? I've only tried Diezel cabs loaded with k100's and didn't like them either for the same reasons you mentioned

My Diezel 4X12 is front loaded with a completely sealed back, so it's a lot tighter and way more focused. Think laser beam. The UberKab breathes more. Both are great... but if you want tight, tight, tight... the Diezel FL 4X12 is the one. Both are really great, tight sounding cabs... just different orders of magnitude. For old school thrash (Tallica, Megadeth, Exodus) the UberKab gets the nod with a Mesa Mark though. I hate loose flabby bass... none of the amps/cabs I currently own really sounds loose, flubby. I hated that sound/feel for years. I can't remember the number of times I tried with futility to get a tight sound from a Mesa Dual Recto thru an OS Recto 4X12.

What exactly does it mean for the back of it to be completely sealed? What would the back of the ubercab be considered? Are Diezel 4x12's completely sealed by default? I've played a few Diezel 4x12's all with k100's and don't remember them being any tighter than my uber, but I have no idea if about they're sealing. I've heard the mills cabs are suppposed to be quite tight too, but never tried them

The Diezel FL have a glued in back, no visible screws. Seams are covered over by tolex.

The UberKab is a rear loaded cab... the only difference in the versions is the new version has the speakers loaded thru the front of the baffleboard as opposed to the older one where they are bolted on to the back of the baffle... like the regular Marshall 4X12s. Only a slight total difference.

Mills Afterburner... absolutely the worst 4X12 I ever owned. Not tight at all. Dark, distant, blanket over the speakers sound. Horrible. I couldn’t dump mine fast enough.

I didn't know the glued back and no screws made that much of a difference

Is your ubercab the older rear loaded one? Mine is FL and I'd describe mine as quite focused and laser like, while my other cabs like my Kerry wright fills the room and breathes more

That's surprising to hear about the mills. What speakers were in yours? Did it at least have a big bottom end? I definitely hate that distant blanketed sound. I remember the Engl cabs also being like that

Fryette does something similar with their Fatbottom 4X12s. But I still like the Diezel FL cabs more.

My current UberKab is the newer FL... but I’ve owned several of the older RL version. Both are really good cabs. One of my favs.

The only thing big about the Mills was it’s size. It was a huge cab in both size and weight. The oversized design is why I think it sucked so much arse. It was like trying to hear a cab at the end of a long hallway with a high ceiling. Too much interior volume and way too stiff... too much internal bracing, way overkill. It’s was like a bigger, even darker/more distant sounding Mesa OS Recto cab. Bad. Really bad. I tried 4 K100s, then 2 V30s/2 K100s, finally 4 EV 200 Watters... nothing helped. It changed hands quickly twice after I sold it... so it just wasn’t me. The Engl XXL cabs are probably along the same lines of good idea on paper... not so much when executed.

Yeah I remember the fatbottom also being very tight. I wonder if that's largely because of its speakers though

And yes the engl cabs made me hate many engl heads at first because of them, until I later realized that the cabs were making them sound so muffled and distanced

I was hoping the big size of the mills would give it a bigger sound, but sounds like it wouldn't be to my taste. I'm very curious though about the butterslax cab with 2 12's and 2 15's. Maybe that could give me a huge sound without being muffled or dull. Definitely wanna try one!

I'm still curious about the mills and so I looked at some older threads and I saw you seemed to be quite impressed with the mills at least at first and gave a lengthy positive review of it on the gear page. What made you change your mind about it so drastically out of curiosity? I've also had 180's in my opinion of some gear, so I'm not trying to call you out or anything, but am just wondering? It seems that a bunch of guys here besides you have also been very impressed with the mills for a bit, but eventually sold them too, so I'm wondering why this is? I wonder if maybe it had an initial wow factor with a big sound, but then they later realized things it lacked, but I'm just taking a guess. It would be interesting to hear from previous mills owners what made them also change their minds about them

I think the difference was heard when I started playing in combo and back to back with my other cabs. I had like 4 other 4X12s then and the Mills just sounded way different... in a bad way. It was like a big dead-sounding recording studio. Nothing good about it. Looked really cool with the big board and all the knobs and sliders at first though.

The cab was so big it had to be delivered by LTL freight via semi-tractortrailer... and the semi got stuck trying to turn around at the entrance to my development. Good times.

Yeah I've definitely been guilty of that too haha. It seems most of us gearheads are like that, but then we spend more time and compare it to other stuff and realize and it's nowhere near as good as we thought at first

I was like that with driftwood, langner, and some of the friedmans I had

It would be interesting to also hear why others sold their mills. It seems like others probably felt the same as you. I remember another guy saying he liked it st first, but it wouldn't cut through very well
