What has been you favorite tube/speaker combo for this amp? I bought a JVM210H a few weeks ago and the honeymoon is over, I love this amp. It's soooo fun to play!!!!

I'm playing this thing dead stock into a Splawn 412 (V30/K100).

I don't want to mod this amp, but what can I do to take this amp over the top tonewise?

You guys know what type of tones I look for ;)

Broski, I really think it is as simple as a UK V30 loaded Marshall cab with that amp in terms of cab/speakers. I am sure other owners will agree on that.

Stay away from Tung sols in the pre for that amp as it is already fairly bright. Maybe RFTs or Mullards? TBH the stock tubes are really not that bad.

Enjoy

I have a brand new quad of JJ EL34's just chillin, would it be worth it to throw those in there and bias it up? or just bias it up with the stock tubes and wait 'til they start to go?

Yea, I'm actually loving the V30/K100 combo in the Splawn cab I have....I wasn't huge on those K100's in that cab until I got the JVM, they balance out the upper-mids of the V30's nicely. Plus, I can still use the V30's to record ;)

Did you buy it new or used? I ask because stock they are biased stupid cold, so you may notice a huge tone improvement by just getting the stock tubes biased properly.

The tubes that come in the jvm from the factory are winged c's. Keep those jj's as backups. ;)

I tried a ton of preamp tubes with mine. It should come stock with a mix of jj's and Chinese 12ax7's. The 2 channel JVM's are not as bright as the 410 and it's good to take the jjecc83s out of v1. Try a Sovtek LPS in there (or another Chinese if you want more upper mid bite). Leave the stock Chinese in the other positions. As far as the PI, try different things for different flavors. The Sovtek LPS sounds great here as well. I settled on a JAN GE 5751 for a little less compression and more warmth. The stock Winged C EL34's are the best you will find for that amp......leave them alone.

MY JVM(s) love VHT cabs!!!

They also love my Bogner front loaded uber kab

It loves my Marshall 1960 slant with v30's and GK100's in a sex pattern!

THE JVM SCHMOKES...

P.S I'll pay you 50 bux to stop by my house and JAM sometime...

I love my 205!!! Does everything I need and very well at that. I run mine through a diezel rear loaded 4x12.

cabs are pretty much covered, so...

6CA7GE on poweramp
original mullard ecc83 on v6, valvo ecc83 on v8 and rft on v5(p.i)
rest is mullard reissue(sovtek)

my 210h sounds unreal

btw... i didnt like chinesse 12ax7 on this amp, whith other amps are fine anyway

I have my 410H set up with NOS Siemens EL34s and RFT pres in V1 and V2. Sounds killer. I use it mainly through my Marshall cabs loaded with UK V30s. Fucking rocks.

In my 410H I had Mullard reissue preamp tubes and stuck with the factory power tubes. Killer tones through either 1960A/B cabs, V30s, or 425A/B cabs. It's a good-sounding amp, but of the 12 channels I found only 2 or 3 usable, so I sold it in favor of my Splawn Quick Rod. I set up some custom MIDI switching with the QR and it's like having a JVM205, but done right.

Weird, I find ALL 6 modes on the JVM210 to be useable :)

I was rocking my both my 210's in stereo last night with my Sam Ash limted run 1960 Les Paul Classic Reissue on the low gain channel in the "yellow mode" and it's freakin classic...

Just rockin blues tones for days!

First off, definitely check the bias. Almost every JVM i have worked on were biased around 19 to 24 mA per set. Should be around 40, 41.
I also tried just about every cabinet/speaker known to man.
I found that g12h30's bring it to life big time compared to v30's.
Much tighter and fuller bottom end, and much smoother mid and highs.
You also may want to try lowering the gain and boosting it with little to no OD, just volume.

I love mine with my Marshall Anniversary cab with G12-H30's, but it is equally or even more so for metal great with V30's. It records great at low volumes also.

Did this with the volume on 1 into V30's only 2 tracks.

The only mode I really don't use is od green but I feel like that mode is a great platform to hit with dirt pedals if I ever wanna dick around with some.

I can't wait to hear what you think of it when you get to compare it to the CCV.
